  1. This is driving me crazy. I replaced the toilet with a standard CA toilet and changed the cabinet doors to framed rather than a manufacturer's product. Which I thought helped, but turned out didn't change anything. Then I noticed floor lines missing and door panel detail lines missing. I'd update an individual view and everything would be fine, then I'd close the elevation view and opt to save, but when I did that other items would disappear. It's like whack-a-mole. Cabinet doors, fixtures, floor lines, door panel details... I don't think it's a layers thing. I'm not using any custom layers. I'm submitting this to another designer (who is my client) and it's going to be really annoying if I'm missing lines because I can't keep having them disappear, refreshing them, then other ones turn off. Urghh. Here is the zipped file. Thanks, Cait Carter Main Floor.zip
  2. Hi Scott, I'm on a PC - Windows 10. It's weird because I saw the content then I didn't. And so had to do a quick screen capture when I updated again. I closed the program and restarted and still the same issue. I'll try restarting my computer and see if that makes a difference. -Cait Update: I restarted my computer and it didn't make a difference. At first the images updated and it all looked good briefly. They I updated all and it went back to missing content. I did notice that if I update individual views they will update correctly. So it appears there is some odd thing happening with updating all views.
  3. I have some basic elevation views that aren't updating correctly and are missing data. The weird thing is that the data shows briefly during the update, then disappears within a few seconds.. I've attached screen captures. First one shows what happens during the update. The Powder room shows all content correctly. But the 3 Pantry elevations on the right don't have any doors. Second screenshot shows the completed update. The Powder room is missing doors on the vanity and missing the toilet. The other 3 Pantry elevations show correctly. Not sure this makes any difference, but it's a Kohler toilet and cabinet doors are Canyon Creek "Brighton". I've attached my plan file and layout file too. There is an imported DWG (on it's own layer) as the background that I've drawn walls, doors, windows and cabinets on top of. Thanks for any help. Cait New Drawings.rar
  4. Thank you all. I've bumped up my lights and I love the toolbar idea. -Cait
  5. Thanks cv2702, That is helpful about the lumens adjusting relative and to know that 50-100 on the sun is not indicative of something else amiss. I'd love to be able to adjust lumens myself in different parts of the scene with different outdoor lighting. It's basically my question above with wanting to control how much of which lights come on. Much more intuitive - this is what I was trying to do. Is there a way to get absolute lumens rather than relative?
  6. Thank you David. I watched it and picked up some helpful info about how the backdrop changes the lighting. It seems that when the sun is toggled on the lights don't all come on. I only have 12 turned on. Then when I toggle off the sun, the lights come on. Is there a setting somewhere that is controlling the scene lighting so that it "averages" or adjusts based on sunlight being present so the lights turn off? I'd like to be able to control this so that I can have lights on and still have light coming in from the windows. Thanks, Cait
  7. Thank you Graham. I had adjusted the preset settings but nothing changed on those. The only way I could get what I would consider a normal setting is to reduce the generic sun to 500 Lux - an enormous reduction from the default of 100,000. Is this to be expected? I was able then to reduce the Brightness in the PBR settings from 100 to 28, which seems a lot more normal.
  8. I'm getting odd "reflections" and exposure blow outs when rendering with PBR. It doesn't change when I turn lights off or on, change the camera exposure, turn off reflections or turn off lights casting shadows, change sun angle or use the generic sun. I thought the "reflections" by the sink were light bouncing off the stainless range and hood so I reduced the shininess of those, but it didn't make a difference. I restarted CA and tried again and same thing. My video card is up to date. Am I running into a limitation of my machine? I don't have any other programs running. Thanks Cait CKirste_Kitchen.plan
  9. Thank you Chopsaw. Looks like there isn't a setting to remove them, which is what I was looking for. I'll try these suggestions. -Cait
  10. How do I hide the lines of a custom backsplash in elevation view? When I change the line settings the splash disappears. If I set the splash further back it also disappears. Do I have to mask it in layout? I want it to look like it is a continuation of the backsplash on the base cabinets. Thanks, Cait
  11. Yes I had raised the railing wall. But I think I started the custom backsplash at the top of the counter and dragged down. Since I also had line weights on it wasn't as precise as it could have been and likely landed on the back wall. I got it sorted out now.I appreciate your help. -Cait
  12. Just found the wandering backsplash, it was attached to the wall in the family room; beyond the bar. So it didn't attach to the new railing wall, but the room beyond. Easy enough to move it. Thanks for your help Eric. -Cait
  13. Okay. Thank you. I changed it to a railing wall, which I thought I had, but obviously not. So now I can draw the custom backsplash, but it immediately disappears. I can't see it in plan or elevation; Custom Backsplash layer is displayed.
  14. Nothing happens. I can't create a rectangle. It works on the opposite wall, which is a full height wall. Here is my plan: Chobany_Kitchen_02.plan
  15. I have a kitchen peninsula / bar with a slide in range. The bar top is 6" higher than the countertop in a standard configuration. The kitchen side has a slide in range that I need a 6" back splash behind. I have a 40.5" solid railing wall behind the cabinets with a 1-1/2" custom countertop on the bar. I can't get the Custom Back Splash tool to work on the half wall behind the range Is there a setting I'm missing? I know I can make this with a different tool, but I would think this is one of the key situations where a custom back splash tool would be used. Thank you for any suggestions. -Cait
  16. Thanks. I saw that and thought it was always there. I've never had to use it, so didn't pay attention. -Cait
  17. Thank you Eric, that worked!. Any thoughts on what the published CA "New Features in X10" is referring to? "Control Stair Railing at Wall. Separately control the stair railings attached to walls and standard stair railing; turn off lower stair railing when stair extends past a wall."
  18. Thanks for the reply Chopsaw. I know where to turn off railings at walls left and right, but I’m not getting the combination I want. The X10 new features list seems to indicate there is more control now, but I don’t see where that is.
  19. I found this reference in the X10 New Features list: "Control Stair Railing at Wall. Separately control the stair railings attached to walls and standard stair railing; turn off lower stair railing when stair extends past a wall." Anyone know how to do this or where this feature can be found? Thanks, Cait
  20. I would like to have just the stair rail on the open sides as well as the hand rail on the wall at the left side of the lower section. If I select the railing on the right, I get it wrapping down the lower level. I've searched posts and Chief videos, but can't find a way to select the different sections separately. Is it not possible? Thanks, Cait
  21. Thanks Mick and Michael. I realize I can change the color or export from X9 - which I've already done now. It just seemed that it fit with the rest of the material issues not updating.
  22. I didn't load them. I've only ever migrated per the normal route. I have no idea where they came from if I didn't get them from a Core Library. Shouldn't the libraries carry forward? That's confusing. If I didn't create them, where did I get them? If they've been available in the past, why aren't they available now?
  23. Updated and materials still missing. I noticed roofing materials missing, saw this post, updated my library, restarted X10 a couple of times and am still missing standing seam materials. I see that that category has moved to a different folder, but many colors of standing seam are still missing. My library says it's up to date. First image shows the X10 library folder for roofing & standing seam. Second image shows X9 library folder for roofing. I did not download the beta, just downloaded X10 a few days ago and updated libraries this evening.
  24. I have changed the materials - for each window on this project - but that isn't a long term solution - unless there is a way to change all of them at once, forever. I'll let them know. Thank you. Cait
  25. Thanks for checking Johnny. The Marvin download has always been through a link to Marvin's site. I have checked multiple types of windows and they are all the same wrong materials. So, it looks like it somehow got corrupted when I migrated. I did delete the library (by right mouse clicking on it and deleting). Then I downloaded again. I'm wondering if there is a registry entry or another file that I need to delete in order to rid my system of this mapping to the wrong materials. Anyone know how I might do this? Thanks, Cait
