    That Cad detail is not in sync with the rest of your plan most likely.  By chance is the rest of the plan 1:200 MM and not in?  OOB is 1:100.  I personally use 1:150 for slightly better control but mm not inches.

    As far as I know the Line Weights are set in Print -> Drawing Sheet Setup, so I am assuming the "rest of the plan" is set per the snip. Is there somewhere else I should look? I have setup the line weights this way per a suggestion I read prior in the forums and am trialing the look. I had to go through and adjust quite a few layers with new line weight settings which it looks like it's working well so far.

  2. I am trying to learn how I can get Material Lists or Schedules with Material List info, to export to Layout. I am trying to add some value to my drawings to make it easier for my guys to do takeoff's. For example; create a schedule that shows, Material Type, Qty, Description, etc. and then export that to Layout. I have found that although we can generate a Material List with this information, the Material List (AFAIK) can't be exported to Layout. If that is indeed true, then how can we get this information to show up on a Schedule? Specifically, I am trying to get my roof shingles to show up on a Custom Schedule. Any ideas on how I can tackle this?

    To the people that are having crashes, I mentioned this early on. Are you crashing using a brand new, non-migrated X-13 OOTB template?
    i haven’t had a single crash since changing to a new template, and it’s been months and months that I’ve been on it.

    I want to 2nd Rene’s suggestion to start with a new template. I have had zero crashes since I took Rene’s suggestion a couple weeks ago.

    My experience was that this did not help 100% as importing defaults , imports the Dimension defaults automatically which are no longer the same in X13 ( whole module was re-worked) and they no longer worked correctly, ie snapping to elements not even visible.

    I am surprised Brad is crashing so much on a 1070 ( if sig is correct? )

    M.

    Kbird - I saw my sig yesterday and I have tried to bring it current, but for some reason I can't get it to update. I have an MSI NVIDIA 3080 and Win11.

    Open the residential OOTB
    Use the File/Import/ tools to bring in your default settings and saved plan views.
    You will need to re-build any CAD details

    Thank you Rene.

    Side note; thank you for all that you do, videos, tutorials, RTRT tips. It's awesome.

    Aside from CAD details we can transfer everything from your X-12 template plan to a fresh new X-13 plan. A transfer specifically as opposed to a conversion. This should stop any issues.

    Thanks Rene, that's a good point. Is the best practice to maybe use the OOTB CA "Residential" plan template and then build on that? I am not so sure now that I have done this properly previously; conversion vs. transfer?

  7. NVIDIA just released a new Game Ready driver. I would suggest updating and reporting if you have any issues. CA camera views seem to be working without crashing in my newer plans. If I open up a plan based on my X12 template, it does crash, but my X13 plans seem to be working so far without a crash.

    Just to be clear, what is the error that is occuring?
    Also for clarity, you are on the newest gfx drivers?
    Does a crash occur on a default OOTB template?

    Rene,

    Here is the error;

    NVIDIA just released a new drive and I just finished updating;

    Using this new driver, I have not been able to crash CA using the OOTB template. So far so good there. The only plan I could get it to crash was a camera view in a plan I created based on my X12 template. I tried a few X13 plans and I couldn't get it to crash.

    For those of you having this problem on plans specifically brought in from previous software versions, it is really really easy to migrate your plan to a new blank X-13 template using edit area paste hold and importing floor defaults. Would that solve the issue?

    Rene,

    I tried the camera view on a fresh X13 plan and it crashed within 10 seconds. I tried a few things, deleting all components from plan and redrawing walls and it crashed. It is odd, because there are a few plans that I had to make revisions in, and the camera view will work for 10-20 minutes. I am able to get a few RTRT photos exported, and then eventually it crashes.

    Well not sure but I’ve been having this issue on windows 11 on both my pcs with a 3080 and one with a 3090 and tried all kinds of stuff but I MAY have something.  I went into graphics settings if you just type it into the windows 11 search and then go to default graphics settings and disable hardware accelerated gpu scheduling and I have not had a crash for 3 hours now and on top of that I’m not getting the weird lag I was getting before the first time I opened a render since updating to windows 11.  Hope it’s not a fluke but right now it’s working good.

    Thank you Rod for this, but wanted to report that I tried this it crashed within seconds on my 3080 system, windows 11. Hoping Chief can chime in here soon on this. After calling Tech support a couple times and using their suggestions, I haven't been able to fix the issues and it seems like I may be at the mercy of Nvidia and/or Chief for the time being.

    You have 2 Note Schedules

    Thanks solver, I deleted the Note Schedule I had on the Plan and now just have the schedule in the Cad Detail. That cleaned it up!

    Thanks everyone for your help, greatly appreciate your time.

    Theres a couple of ways to do it, but typically I put my schedule on a CAD detail, then send it to Layout from there.

    Hope that helps.

    Rpadge: thank you, I did find that I can create a Cad Detail, then by adding a Note Schedule (in my case a Foundation Note Schedule I created), but when I add it to the detail, I get a funky numbering of 1,1 and 2,2, which is creating a new issue for me!

    Here is what I mean;

    Here is a simple schedule from the plan, and it looks great;

    Here is the Cad Detail and with the schedule added;

    Hard to tell how to advise you as we are unsure of what software you are using and what hardware, please add that information to your signature as the answer given for your question almost always depends on that information.

    Another recommendation is a brief search which will many times answer your question.

    Now assuming you are using the latest Chief Architect Premier or Interiors X12 or even a recent Xversion (any other software has their own forum specific to that software)this quick search brought up this video which should explain on how to use the layout.  https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/48/creating-layouts-and-construction-documents.html

    Hope this helps, and please take the advice about the signature to heart as it really is very important to have filled out.

     rgardner: Thank you for suggesting the signature details and I did input that info just now. That's a good video, thank you for the suggestion. I have seen it previously but it doesn't detail how to import a schedule into layout. I also did a search via Google and also Chieftalk previously and 99% of the time this resolves my issues, which is one of my favorite things about Chief and that is the community and support that you all have taken the time to provide! It's world class! Unfortunately though, this isn't resolving the specific issue I have found myself in.

  14. I am looking for a solution on how to insert schedules into Layout. I have tried converting the schedule while in a Plan to a Cad block and then inserting into layout by Copy/Paste, but this deleted the Note # specific to each line item and I would then have to manually add them for each line item on the layout page.

    Here is a picture from a Chief layout where I have blue circled the schedule showing that Chief has inserted it into layout. Any ideas?
