  1. Show us: C:\ProgramData\Chief Architect Premier X11\Manufacturer Libraries

If your libraries are not there is does not count. I think you pasted your libraries to

    C:\Users\Robert\Documents\Chief Architect Premier X11 Data\

    It really needs to be

    C:\ProgramData\Chief Architect Premier X11\

  2. In my experience the macros work differently with evaluate vs non-evaluate mode.

Not sure where in the manual it is disclosed...

When evaluate is not checked macross have access to globals, try creating macro "test"... and place

%view.name%, appears to be executing global replacement and concatenation.

If I switch to evaluate mode I get the error:  "unknown type of %string %view.name%"...

Ruby engine is used to evaluate....

  3. You needed to copy the entire content of

    C:\ProgramData\Chief Architect Premier X11\*.*

not pick and chose even IF it says do NOT copy... and overwrite the destination

When you see all libraries inside of the X11, and everything works

    X11 Menu > Library >Update Library Catalogs

  4. Sorry, I was just trying to help.

Your libraries are divided into two: CA libraries and User libraries.

    For CA libraries:

Paste the path below as is into a windows search box that says  "Type here to search" at the bottom left corner of your screen and press enter.

    C:\ProgramData\Chief Architect Premier X11\

These are non-index locations so windows search somewhat not functional. Copy content of this folder to your USB drive .. it will take some time.

For user libraries: press <windowKey> E, >> Documents >> Chief Architect Premier X11 Data >>Database Libraries

    Now copy file: user_library.calib

    That is your user library.

  5. You do not need any xxx_MigrateBackup, may not even need the Archives unless you need some older copies of your plans for recovery

    I suggest You backup:

     Documents\Chief Architect Premier X11 Data\Database Libraries\user_library.calib

     Documents\Chief Architect Premier X11 Data\Database Libraries\Toolbars\*.*

    C:\ProgramData\Chief Architect Premier X11\*.*

You will have a perfect clone

  6. Sign on paper, take a picture, countless online websites allow you to remove background.

If you do not want to use online, photoshop gimp etc use magic wand on a background to select it and hit delete.

How you sign is also important. You want to have one continues signature movement with no gaps or white space. Your signing pen should be a good quality pen and should not be raised during signing. On rare occasions two names could be separated, but never the initials.

One of our oldest clients is an architect firm based in NJ. They are in need of a better solution to track time on projects and billing as well. What are some of the softwares that anyone could suggest for keeping track of time spent by multiple people on projects and billing software solutions. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide to help with this. Also they are full Apple integrated office. They all use latest generation Imacs and Imac Pro models. Even the receptionist and billing computer is an Imac. Thanks again.

You probably may want to integrate with the billing software this company is using. So if they use quick books ... I would use tsheets, otherwise you will need to export / import the data all the time. It is always better to have integrated, just my $.02.

  8. Not 100% correct, or even 90%.

Chromebooks are  running Chrome OS. Few year back the feature was added to allow chrome books to execute almost all android apps.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrome_OS

Chrome 69 has a capability to run desktop apps, but also released, still considered in beta. Obvious answer to your question is NO.

Chief DOES NOT run on Chrome OS

Thank you! I had to take a 2nd look at your post, but I think we can re-direct things now that you pointed out that ini file.

There is not much magic to this... Chief reads that ini file for all locations.

    User%20Settings%20Folder=C:/Users/<BT>/OneDrive/Documents/Chief Architect Premier X11 Data/
    Shared%20System%20Library%20Database%20Folder=C:/ProgramData/Chief Architect Premier X11/

    Manufacturer%20Data%20Path=C:/ProgramData/Chief Architect Premier X11/Manufacturer Data/

  10. These continuous insulation details probably will not work with hardie or Certainteed or LP SmartSide

    https://www.jameshardie.com/JamesHardieMainSite/media/Site-Documents/TechnicalBulletins/19-jh-over-advanced-framing-or-continuous-insulation.pdf

or Smart LP if you go over 1" requires 2x4s installed as a "strapping"

"1-1/2 inches (38 mm) thick by 3-1/2 inches (89 mm) wide vertical strap or furring strip must be installed over the sheathing to provide a solid level nailing base for the siding"

Only with Vinyl ( it could and will look buckled because of a foam compression)

  11. That is not correct ...

Chief creates the Data folder for each user and copy all resources to that folder.

User resources are loaded instead from

    C:\Users\<User>\Documents\Chief Architect Premier X11 Data\Toolbars

I believe, also never verified that if you delete them, chief will recopy the toolbar icons.

So I would copy from C\Program Files\Chief Architect\Chief Architect Premier X11 (64 bit)\resources\buttons to C:\Users\<User>\Documents\Chief Architect Premier X11 Data\Toolbars  or rename that folder to let CA recopy.

  12. 1) In the material list .. you have four options: buy list, cut list, linear length and Mix reporting.

Make sure you chose the right one.

    2) Next check Tools> Materials List> Structural Member Reporting

In some circumstances you may want to define 22' for buy list ... because the software stops at 20'.

    3) Right click on this object and select find object on the plan.

Check the dimensions. It is easy to improperly set the width like for 2x4 specify 2"x4" instead of 1.5x3.5 or screw up the width if you adjust the window wall framing, mistakenly widen a member to like 2.1" when you move it. I one time had a cripple mistakenly reported wrong .5" depth.

I do not know if you can trust this software because some walls are really screwy. Like a gable instead of 2', 3', 4' ft sides and 9' centers software frames with two walls: 6' wall section and top is framed with 3'. Even with simple walls they could be oddly framed ( and I am religious about default wall top and bottom)... Would like to know if anyone used chief reporting for ordering the framing mat real house.
