  1. I tried softplan years ago stuck with Chief personnally found Chief more user friendly for me but that was a time when I was thinking about bailing on Chief after purchasing Softplan it wasn't worth it for me with all I get with Chief doing construction documents and my customers love the 3d viewer

  2. If you post the plan or email it to me I can check better rather then guessing, my thoughts are since you are not indicating the type of door in the schedule you are just showing the size of the doors, then the builder would have to look at the plan to see what type it is

  3. Someone made a video on Decks and it showed how to get double rim joist for a deck when auto framed and I can't find it for the life of me, I have looked in Chief on youtube and still nothing any help would be most appreciated

    Thank you

  4. If you are using x10 it should be simple just delete the front roof and select each other room and drag the ridge part paralle and then select it and move it to whatever overhang you want or you should get a dimention number to the outside of the wall then just add the overhang you want, or as Mick said post the plan and you will get a quick answer if it is ca x10 I think only a few use both

  5. Hi Newell see if this is what you were looking for you don't have a second floor drawn so I am not sure where these steps will be going, what I did was deleted all of your stairs except the first set then made a box the way I want the first step to be and converted into a landing, did the same thing with the second step but had to raise it up 7 5/8" higher then the bottom height of the first landing once I did that I drew another set of steps up from that landing starting against the upper most landing

  6. Adel I just did a search in ed warehouse under tub and then scrolled down until I found something like I thought you were looking for, I downloaded it to my desktop and then in a new plan I imported it under import ed symbol which will import skp drawing and it saves it to a symbol in Chief format

    https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search/?q=tub&searchTab=model  then https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/4747e291-1b6a-4313-bb3b-2431f0e94fef/tub and downloaded

But how would the attic walls know which roofs to extend to?

Richard I must be misunderstanding him, I was thinking he wanted a gable roof and then a hip roof in the same area's and the walls would be at the same height to where the roof would start

  8. How would it work if you put the different designs on different layers and just turned them on and off I haven't tried it just a thought or as Chopsaw said I would draw the plan and save them as roof 1, roof 2, etc this way you can have each roof design open at the same time to show your client

  9. Gerard what I do when mulled together in the label component I will put the 3 window manuf. down like AW31-3, this will show what windows you are using and you should still be able to produce the r.o. in the framing dbx if this is what you are looking for you can also put the space between windows you want in the comment part of the window schedule

  10. David I did that with my son with a smaller version cost me around 50 bucks I think he is 33 know with a degree in engineering and a P.E. with the state we live in, so starting them young is a great thing for him, he also came from an autocad enveyorment and when he helps me with structural issues or does some commercial work for me he uses my second version of Chief which he has also have done project for others that use a file type like dwg or dxf and he still uses Chief to do the projects, so I feel Chief is a very friendl product that has learning curve like anything else but can make things happen, I know at my age not climbing anymore I say that I build houses on the computer for builders and clients keeps me busy, and kuto's to your grandson's for a nice job
