  1. Thanks Joe, There is the "add an arrow" setting that i checked. but as soon as you move the arrow to the target the setting undoes it self. additionally, the arrow only attaches to the left of the text. when its connected it works as intended. Its when i close the file and reopen it. The connection is lost. Its not predictable behavior. additionally, its not really that helpful of a setting anyways now that i look at it. The wall height is not 255" but the elevation is. At this point its better than nothing. (which its trying to be anyways) idk i give up. Hey Coop! I'm using X17 27.3.2.5. - I still have 9 months of my second year subscription. I'm just hoping there is a revelation on the developers side that smooths out some of these documentation issues.
  2. I’m running into a persistent issue with text macro callouts and arrows losing their associations after reopening a completed plan. Workflow: Project is fully built and annotated Text macros are used with arrows pointing to objects (walls, fixtures, components) Everything displays correctly when saved and closedIssue: After reopening the plan, many (sometimes all) text macro callouts are no longer connected to their arrows The arrow still exists, but the macro text is no longer properly associated and must be manually reconnected This happens consistently and adds a lot of rework time on larger projects Notes: File is not being converted between versions Happens even when no geometry changes are made Occurs across multiple projects, not file-specific Overall, I'm finding this software is just not stable enough to be used in any real long term professional environment. I was sold on the pretty pictures but over a year into it, I'm starting to export all my projects to CAD (which is a total pita!) and let this subscription die. Just a quick nod to something that needs to be fixed before i go.
  3. I draw a short attic wall. it should snap to the bottom of the roof. then in section view, adjust the bottom to match your rake. I'm sure there is a better way, but that seems to work for me rn.
  4. To add to Joe's comment. I was doing this the other day at the top of a roof where it intersected a wall. I wanted to have a wall trim. It took me FOREVER! but i found out you want to add the modeling polyline in plan view first. then add the profile. then in elevation view adjust heights. If you try and use 3D its much more difficult to control snaps and work planes. Overall, I'm finding that you want to stay away from 3D and any neat 21's century tools with this program. It will eat up the clock for minimal improvement. A simple note with a line sometime is better than 2 hours of messing with a clunky tool. keep it simple until the very end of the project.
  5. I was wondering the same thing. If only we could export in .FBX, CA files could be used on almost any 3D program.
  6. I feel you Bob, I turn off temp dims unless i absolutely need them. I figured out from my previous post that there is no way to have a different temp dim style from your Manual. and if your working with a object that is smaller than your text. its just blots it out with a bunch of garbage. And as far as things changing, It happens every time I restart a project for the day. I have to do a full review to see what this program decided to change overnight. Lots macro attachments. Dimensions all wacky, wall hosted items flipped around, linked items not showing unless i have the layout loaded also... I'm finding that I'm going to start having to do everything brute force. no hosting objects, no temp dims. no macros unless it the room tag. they all are unreliable. Here is what i woke up to today. Very frustrating indeed. its going to get me in trouble if i don't catch it. Last night This morning
  7. Thank you for the tips. 30 years of drafting with CAD and Revit and 1.5 years of CA i thought i would be able to pick this up without too much frustration. Not there yet...
  8. Whenever i place my power panel in the wall it pops out on one side or another after i restart the file. Any ideas? without changing anything, simply relocating back where i belongs, it looks correct again. X17 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700K RAM: 64.0 GB Graphics: Radeon RX7900XT
  9. This tool that should be the go-to quick adjustment tools. However, it is not reliable, and I find myself turning it off more that i like and from the sounds of it a lot of others are too. Overall I'm questioning my choice to migrate to this software after using Revit. Nice cabinets and interiors and starts off quick and pretty picture, devil is in the details. My first problem Is with the multi-selected items, such as windows or switches, Temporary dims are only producing a temp dimension from one of the items and not treat all the selected items as one. you need to do each one by one making it nearly useless. all 4 windows are selected. however there is no outside to outside. Second thing is this... really how many setting are needed to control this? Looking it up i tried all the different setting areas and control panels. Selecting one item give you 3 different text styles. i went nuclear and changed every text style to the same in the entre plan and every setting i can think of. this is the result. Haven forbid your selecting a small item like a light switch.. Is this what everyone is dealing with? or can someone show me an example for the setting to defeat this? I'm really hoping that something clicks with this software, it looks pretty, but its killing my production. X17 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700K RAM: 64.0 GB Graphics: Radeon RX7900XT
  10. Hello, I have searched everywhere for an answer with no luck. It used to be, when i would select multiple objects, i would get temporary dimensions that would treat the entire selection as one object. This would allow me to move the whole group easily. it worked great for centering windows on walls. Now, It shows only one of the selected items and not it a very helpful way. Its usually on the left side not matter what the selection order is. Example - i have all 4 windows selected my temp dim settings - messed with this quite a bit with no luck. this is how i have always had it. Thank you for any help
  11. Chris, I just started using X17 and the temporary dimension defaults are now in each individual Dimension style. Which is fine. But there is no longer this dialog box. How did i get this to show up? My issue is when i select a group of windows i used to get an overall temporary dimension and it would help me center the group. now it will only favor one of the items in the group. Any ideas?
