Thanks DB for the great idea, I did not try that. Also, John exceptional design! Good job. I've seen the chrome or steel 'buttons or caps' for glass before. Are those tucked away somewhere within Chief's library? Or did you make those? I could implement something like that if you could share where you found them. Thanks!!

Good day all, Trying to figure out the best way to place a ceiling into a closet below some stairs. The owners would like the same stair system as the other floors, however I can't seem to figure the sloped ceiling for the closet below. It's probably an easy setting somewhere I'm just overlooking - hmmm. Thanks for the assistance in advance. - Drew

Thank you Robert, Been busy with other items and not sure how I missed your info - Thank You. I'll revisit those areas and implement your suggestion, as it looks like it worked for you just fine. And I'll apply tile as well to the upper portion of Exterior Wall with a Window inserted. Thanks again - Drew- 4 replies

Good day, This covered parking was done by creating Railing and Deck/Straight Deck. We would like to add say a 24" section of exterior wall covering from the top beam down. Tried some options - however no success. I suspect there is a proper way to do this?.......... Thank you - Drew

Good day, Has anyone applied a ramp sink (sloped sink) to any of their Chief designs? If so, where did you find it from a library if there is one? Here are few Undermount photos. We have a company here in Bend Oregon (Cement Elegance) which manufactures counter and sink as one integrated unit, which is fine. I happen to be looking in the undermount direction at this time, not the integrated as one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you - Drew

Good day, I am needing to place a 2x4 partial wall (pony wall) over a portion of the 2x6 Exterior Wall. For Example: The 2x4 Pony Wall will join the 2x6 Exterior wall - stud to stud. As seen in the images, the Pony Wall will be 64" high, and have a niche within that wall. Tile will not apply properly to the 2x6 exterior portion on the interior side. So I am having some issues with creating the proper application so all walls looks and flow together. Thanks for the insight to build this proper - Drew

Good day, Unless I am missing it somewhere beyond the online searches and CA X15 Door Specifications, I can not find how to apply door hardware to 'BOTH' bypass doors. I was going to use the rectangular pocket door handle, since there does not appear to be a round cup pull. Which is fine. How can this be done please? Thank you in advance! - Drew

Good day,
I noticed a feed you contributed to here:
With that I am working on a similar staggered lap with reveals of (according to LP for 12" and 8") 10-7/8" followed by 6-7/8" repeated.
So my question is, how can these texture images be modified?
And is this something I can do myself? I would potentially make other patterns.
I've located them and included them as reference.
Any information would be greatly appreciated - Thank you!
Have a great day.

Good day rlackore,
I've figured a quick solution by editing the original Hardi jpg image within CA.
I suspect you created or altered an image in something like Blender, Cinema 4D, or similar.
This will work for what I need. I'll just make some finer adjustments on my image and then I can also create the other variations needed.
Thanks you - have a great day! Solved.

Adjust Truss Cantilever for Irregular Exterior Walls
Drew-PRH replied to Drew-PRH's topic in General Q & A
Here is the answer to solve this uneven soffit plane for a roof with a cantilever. In this instance there is a 4' cantilever around the home and this area at the porch was not showing fully the same cantilever plane. To extend this cantilever to fully enclose this porch area soffit to be flush, you will need to adjust the boxed eave setting on the roof plane where you are seeing the issue. To do so: 1. Open the roof plane specification for the 'roof plane' where you are seeing this issue. (in this instance, it was above the porch) 2. Go to the Options panel 3. Uncheck Flush Eave 4. Uncheck 'Default to Overhang' and change to 140”. (See the attached images showing how this came to be 140" for this specific roof plane area) Your cantilever should now span the entire area. Hope this may help somebody in the future - Drew -
Good day, Might there be a way to adjust the truss cantilever for an irregular shaped exterior wall. Please see the attached images of different views. Unless I am missing something, I don't see within the 'Rood Plane Specifications' dialog and option to modify that. Since it is a Cantilever, it is the same plane as the interior ceiling. Any help would be Appreciated. Thanks in Advance!

Good day, Working on creating a Privacy Wall 5' high with post legs at the bottom essentially lifting the privacy wall up 6" off grade. Going through the "Railing Specs", I can not seem to extend the post (newel) legs below the wall. Might there be a way to do this? Or should it be created another way? Here is what was done: Railing Specs: General) Railing Wall Type) Interior Railing Wall Cap) 8-1/2 x 1-1/2 Rail Style) Specify Railing - Solid Newels/Posts - Post to Rail Newels/Balusters) Railing Height - 60" Newel/Posts Width - 5-1/2" Spacing - 60" Type - Square Thanks so much in advance! - Drew

Adjust Sizing Stretch Planes of ZLine Range Hood
Drew-PRH replied to Drew-PRH's topic in General Q & A
Awesome Chopsaw https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/profile/4797-chopsaw/ Thanks so much! Got it. I'm not sure why I was making it more difficult than needed Have a great day -
Good day, I've gone through what I thought are the "Advanced Sizing for Stretch Planes" for the: ZLine ALP10WL-30 Ducted Wall Mount Range Hood to no avail nor success. I do not want to change the size or distort the hood, rather only stretch the vent. My goal is to stretch to ceiling. I've included an image of the Advanced Sizing - Might there be a wealth of wisdom on this worth sharing? Thanks in Advance - Drew

Appliance Will Not "Recess" Fully into Cabinet

Good day, I can not seem to get an appliance to get "tucked in" or "recess fully" into a cabinet. Here are the steps: Going through the Cabinet Dialog Choosing the "Front/Sides/Back" Choose a door and change to "Appliance" from the "Item Type" drop down Change "Item Height" to specific Height Choose "Lock from Auto-Resize" Go to Appliance/Door/Drawer and "Specify", then type in item # (in this case DYWS4) The chosen appliance (DYWS4) dimensions have been changed to be that of the actual product. The opening has even been made larger (just in case) and no changes, so it was changed back The four images shows what it looks like in different view angles. However the overview blueprint shows it "in the cabinet". Hmmmm So....Just trying to figure out how to get this Wine Dispenser to fit "in" the cabinet. Thank you in advance to all you smart ones - Drew

Good day all, I like the illustration used in the Chief Architect 'Bachelor-View' Layout showing the various materials. I've attached a screenshot of the image. I can create something similar, however I'm trying to get it to the Layout with what appears to be a transparent background. Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this and there is a simpler way? Looking for a great way to accomplish this. Thank you in advance - Drew
