    Wall Area

I'm trying to calculate the area of my exterior walls minus the area of the windows and doors to fill out some WSEC forms. Anyone know if this is possible in Chief? It's the insulated area of the above grade walls.
  2. That worked perfect - thank you!
  3. Thanks this helped a lot. To clarify I'm trying to have both my Stair Tread & Riser Material Area included in my material list for flooring. That macro worked great for the tread sq ft - any idea on how to calculate the riser material area? It would be nice to set it up in the component defaults for stairs this way whenever they're drawn it will include in the material list.
  4. I'm trying to have my stairs in my mat lists show the square footage of my flooring risers. Anyone have any ideas?
  5. I want to create a category on my materials list that shows the total square footage of a building - as shown in attached sceenshot. Does anyone know how I can do this? Possible by using polylines?
  6. I'm trying to create a materials list that upon creation shows both the lineal footage and square footage of a cabinet backsplash. Does anyone have any ideas? I can get either the square footage or lineal feet to show but can't get both at the same time. Legth is just "backsplash_legth" and the square footage is "=backsplash_length * cabinet.backsplash_height" Upon placement cabinets have a default component that show the countertop square footage and the lineal legth of the backsplash - would I somehow be able to setup a component that shows the square footage of the backsplash in my cabinet defaults? Note attached screenshots.
  7. No worries! I solved my own issue - needed to set the absolute elevation for the stem wall top to 0 and the floor -6 for the garage. Then once I remade the foundation it dropped it properly. Thanks for talking it out!
  8. Adding the concrete cutout did not change anything.
  9. Good idea - I took the walls out of the second floor but it should be enough for you to take a look at the issue. Thank you - any input is appreciated. Garage Door Issue.plan
  10. I'm having an issue where the garage door is not dropping and cutting out the foundation. Anyone know what's going on here? Can't attach the plan file as it's too large.
  11. Thanks Glen super helpful I'll give it a try!
  12. So I'm trying to figure out how to setup custom Rod and Shelfs in chief. The stock symbol cannot be used on angled walls and neither can the stock shelf symbol. So usually when I am modeling a home with an angled shelf I just use a 3D solid and set it to my desired height and depth etc. Here is an example of what I mean by angled shelf - My goal is to setup an item like this that I can include in Mat lists. I would like to calculate the lineal ft of the shelfs throughout an entire model - as well as a separate measurement for the rod lineal footage. Does anyone have an idea of how I would go about doing this?
  13. I had them set to closed that was my problem. Thanks y'all - I'll try that with the plank flooring as well.
  14. I'm working on a kitchen and my stairs are clipping through to the floor. If I adjust the bottom height to remove this then the first flight is raised as well. Any ideas?
