Hi all, I downloaded an (Exterior Structures library) from the website. Looks very interesting I thought would be a cool little project to do the chicken coop. when I bring it into the plan it comes as symbol, I can't explode to work with it to modify it or create framing etc.. I don't see the explode button to explode it. what am I missing ? Thank you

Oh !! I didn't think you can do a back clipped in 3d I'll try it.

You are absolutely correct, need to hire a different framers LOL.. I am trying to use this for instructional purposes, I want to see if I have any other options, such as, would I be able to show the frames if I create wall elevations or something.
-
Hi all, I am trying to show the framing as an extra (visual /Instructional) please see the attached picture. I am wondering if there is an easier way to show the frames. I am not looking for anything specific, I am hoping for "brain storming session" with the group. The idea is if I have to show someone how all the walls come together; I tried the (perspective framing overview) but that does not do it clear enough.

Hi, Can you elaborate on this step please. how would you actually add the skids. I am good with all the steps you listed but (add skids) Thank you,
-
Yep, I had the default Unchecked thank you for your help

hi all, All I need is to show a 42" concrete (trench/foundation) and three rows of CMU and no matter what number I plug in this wall configuration window I can't get what I want. If I put 24 on (off floor) I get small sliver of CMU to show; if I put 42" I get no CMU. if I put 42" in (lower wall top) I get 92 off the floor... what am I doing wrong???? I must be missing the mark totally with my understanding are the number required in this window. Please help !!

change layout template after you start working
rck-tech replied to rck-tech's topic in General Q & A
great! thank you Kiwideziner -
Hi all, Is there a way to change the layout template after the fact. I started with an 11x17 template. I would like to change to a 24x36 but I am more than half way done with the work. Is there an easy way other than starting over. I already created my own custom layout templates for both sizes, I just would like to switch from one size to the other. thank you,

if that's the case then I'll just delete the end truss and let the software build the gable wall. thank you all for the input.
-
Thank you for you response, I tried that, it did not work, I was able to click on the truss and pull down but if I put a window it won't cut the frame for the window. see video 2020-08-21 11-23-03.mp4

Hi, I watched this video https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/9914/focus-creating-trusses.html around the minute 11:30 he shows how to make an attic truss. I followed it step by step. the end truss does not fully close, assuming it did close it; if I add a window or a door to the gable wall would the end truss re-frame and create the headers etc... Thank you,
-
You are correct. I kept trying till one of the sequences of steps worked. thank you for your help.
-
Thank you David, I tried multiple combination of all the steps you mentioned, my issue, I am trying to get the truss to change it's configuration to sit flat on the second floor wall. Thank you
-
I watched the same video multiple time, I followed it step by step for the scissor truss but I can't get the truss to sit flush on the second floor wall. I'll keep trying. Thank you,

Hi guys, Chief architect X12 I have few questions; I spend over 12 hours fiddling with this. Trying every option within Chief Architect, watching videos, looking for answers on the forum here. This was supposed to be a simple garage with a loft and outside door for that attic !!! (well I thought it was simple !!!) I followed some CA video tutorials creating a second floor then adding the roof to ignore the 2nd floor. 1- How can I get the scissor trusses to sit flush on the wall I did select Truss No birdmouth. How could a simple building like this be so difficult to create ?? what would happen when I start creating more complex designs, I feel it’s going to be really bumpy ride. I boss's patient is running thin, understandably so !

Great !!! thank you ... that worked

Thank you all but I tried that, please see attached. I must be missing a click or a pick. Please be patient with me I am refugee from the Manufacturing Industry LOL...
