  1. It is a plan from my template which does not have it selected. But after creating a new plan (from the template) I set the defaults to build rafters.
  2. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but when I set the defaults for the roofs to auto build roof framing, it works after I set it for the following roofs I build. But when I open the plan again to work on, I need to set this default back on. ???
  3. That was too easy! It didn't work right last time, but I pulled the wall back past the roof opening - that was the key
  4. I have watched the video of ChiefSkills by Steve Nestor, "DORMERS - Auto and Manual Types" Trying to use the idea there to cut my walls out of the living space. I think you called it "Cheek Walls". See the real picture and the angled ceiling. That is what I am trying to do. Any thoughts? SND1823 Klinke Residence.plan
  5. Thank you - I did find that description. However, I have numerous exterior wall types. Is there a way to give a description to each of my wall types in my User folders? When I update the defaults, it keeps my last change only.
  6. On the wall schedule there is a Description on the right - by default. Where is this value located so I can modify it for each wall type? Thank you
  7. Yes, that makes perfect sense! Kind of where my mind was going to get away from the break in the casing to extend below the 0 floor - Thank you again!
  8. I have a lot to go on now. I know I can pull off what I want. Thank you for all the ideas!
  9. You are right, multiple ways to pull this off. But what I am really looking for is the casing to extend down. I guess if we wanted some fancy wide casing on some base blocks, we would want it resting on the floor/porch with the kick plate between.
  10. That is exactly what I am looking for! So are you adding the casing from the door dialog? Is the kick plate - "has casing below" - how did you do that?
  11. Thank you! I haven’t gotten into symbols yet, but it won’t take me long.
  12. Yes, the siding butts into it. Typically there is a 1x8 trim board (cut to fit) added below the door, the width of the door with the casing running past to the porch floor top. We never run the siding under the door.
  13. Hello, Is there a setting to add a kick board? This seems like a simple check box option but I cannot find it. I added a molding which works. Thoughts? Thank you, Steve
  14. That's what I did - worked perfectly - added now to how I build a porch
  15. You are right! I continued to watch the video and noticed that his walls disappeared under the roof inside, and then Steve said the walls don't come through until you add a hole. I should of kept watching. I watched once before and was stepping through it. My bad! Thank you Eric!
  16. I took the wall from the auto dormer and copied it to the new position and it cut it down. I'll do some more digging
  17. Or, maybe not! Still doing the same thing... hmmm
  18. I found it! Balloon Through Ceiling Above. I added an Auto Dormer, exploded it and looked at it's specs.
  19. Hi Steve, I was hoping I would find this video in the forum, Really great BTW! I viewed it on your YouTube channel. When I add my exterior wall (manually creating), my exterior wall gets cut at the roof. It is not extending out of the roof as you show. I am looking into my wall options to see if there is an option to cut it but not finding it. I will keep trying but wanted to get my question out there in case I don't find it. I'm caught up with my work and so busy learning these things. Thank you
