  1. Is there a way to add FOAM SILL SEALER under the foundation sill plate? And have this part of the material list?
  2. I had the same problem. Once I REBUILD the walls, and used the materials polyline, everything showed up - wall studs, and ceiling joists. Then use the BUY LIST, all studs and ceiling joists were listed according to correct sizes and tally. Apparently, chief will calsulate the wall and ceiling materials list when the walls are built - either by automatic build walls or build walls. Hope this helps.
  3. Thank you also Steve Nestor - great input. Thanks, Bob
  4. That took care of it. I did not have the wall type definitions set up correctly. With the upper wall, the foundation offset was needed, but the brick ledge was not. On the foundation wall, neither of these was needed, and the 4 inches for the foundation offset was indicated in the exterior layer. Great video Eric. Thank you.
  5. Looks like I still have a problem. When I leave the foundation as a solid concrete stem wall, everything works great. However, when I change the stem wall (wall definitions) to having a brick ledge, I seem to get varying undesirable results - foundation inside is offset from the plate as shown. There must be something I am missing to have the foundation flush inside, as with the solid stem wall. Suggestions? The first picture is what I am looking for. The second one is what I get when creating a brick ledge. I had to make the foundation walls 1" wider (10") instead of the 9" on the floor framing. When I kept both the foundation walls and the framing walls the same width, there was an offset in the brick on the outside. On my foundation plan, with the brick ledge, there are now two sets of dimensions, as if there is a second wall. I also do not have dimensions on my garage plan.
  6. Thank you Steve and Eric. Great tips. I think your suggestions will work great for this project.
  7. Is there a way to use a cad line or something similar and cut out the brick under the doors?
  8. Opening for driveway to pour to middle of door, and concrete sill under service door.
  9. Yes. Something like that, only brick extends down a few inches lower everywhere except under the door. Sill on door sets on top of garage floor
  10. Ok. Just want a 5" wall 16" on top with a brick ledge that drops the brick down, and leaves the brick out of the bottom of the doors so that the concrete can pour to the slab. Inside the garage - 12" of concrete showing above floor. Outside, the brick should be 4" below the slab, and not in the door openings. Foundation plan should show cutouts. I was hoping someone else would have encountered the same issue. Owl Creek Garage.plan
  11. I am trying to keep my foundation stem wall up 12" above the garage floor, and create a brick ledge on the outside to drop the brick down about 20 inches, and keep the brick cut out below the garage door and the side door. I tried creating a pony wall in the foundation, and this seems to eliminate the cutouts and has results that leave brick showing on the outside and an offset in the brick. I have looked at a few videos and other forum questions, but still cannot seem to get this to work.
  12. Oh My goodness. Setting up a new plan, this is what I got - headered off joists automatically - this is great. Here it is on my original project. Works like a charm - joists headered off, all framing complete. Thanks Eric. I did not have auto regenerate turned on. This seems to be a key to seeing everything put together right away.
  13. I used cad lines and converted this to a polyline hole in the floor. Is this the correct way to do this?
  14. I tried using the convert polyline method, hole in floor platform, but for some reason it did not recognize my deck. The green cutout showed in plan view, but not in camera view, and I could not get to work at all in camera view. I built the deck using Deck railings.
  15. I am having a similar issue. How to cut a hole in a deck for a tree that will be growing through the deck. I tried using a polyline cutting tool, but it does not cut through the deck. Also tried a polyline solid box and this set the box inside the deck, but would not leave an open hole. Suggestion for Joe that may work - since a polyline solid inserts into the deck, maybe a 3d of the hot tub can be inserted into the deck as well.
  16. Oh my goodness. Different names for the walls appears to have taken care of it. Thanks.
  17. Does anyone else have trouble using the room divider wall? Every time I try to use it, I get a room with 4 1/2" walls, and I have to open the walls and change it to room divider. Sorry, I hope this is not off topic. I thought it may apply since the room divider plays such an important role in this project.
  18. When I regenerate the deck framing, the mods are deleted. I have it set to auto regenerate deck framing. Could it be going back to the settings on the Deck Support tab as shown in the screenshot? Should I make this the correct size of the footings, instead of trying to modify the footings independently? I just now tried it and that seemed to work. Would be nice to be able to change the footers independently.
  19. I see room dividers and a polyline (3 lines) in front. Why use a polyline - just curious.
  20. Thanks for the effort Eric. Looks good. You mentioned other tricks - what other tricks did you use? ALSO - I have set the footer size for the deck piers several times, and this does not stay. Suggestions as to why this will not take permanently? It seems like Premier should be doing a better job - should not have to jump through so many hoops to make the basic things work - agree?
  21. Ok. I have played with it quite a bit and put it back together - partially. Basically, you can see the two corners in question. I was going to try the divider wall - but I am not sure if this would prevent it from attaching, and may add another post to the end. Feel free to take a look. Thanks. Bruce Deck Project.plan
  22. Is this the setting? Sorry, did not work. Not sure why this is not working. According to the documentation, this should do it: Partition Walls By default, walls not only build to an intersecting wall’s Main Layer, they also build through the finish layers of the floor below and the ceiling above to reach the structural layers. In some situations, though, this is not desirable: for example, glass shower walls are typically installed against the surfaces of walls, floors and ceilings rather than building into them. To achieve this, use a wall type that is specified as a Partition Wall.
  23. Hello Eric. Is there a setting somewhere that would be causing this to happen? Is there a way to deal with the way Chief handles breaking a wall - in the center of an adjoining wall - in this case, in the middle of a deck railing post?
  24. When I delete the portion of deck that it not part of the screened porch, and then attach a piece of deck railing to one of the corners, the same thing happens - as if I used the break tool. The new railing wall cuts into the existing wall (deck railing with post) 1/2 way, and causes the beam at the top to not join, and the new railing to come up short. When the screened porch is standing alone, all works great, until I attach new deck railing walls.
  25. Doesn't want to stick. And on on one corner, I get a column by itself - when I dragged one of the diamonds it gave me the column to work with. However, when I adjust the other end of the wall (that does not stick) this end falls short again. It is like a tug of war - when one side appears to be fixed, the other one comes up short again. It is almost like I should start over, and build the screened porch first, then attach the rest of the deck to this - Is there another way? Thanks
