Sorry for not thoroughly searching for the answer to this. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a way to show wall framing details for multiple floors?
-
That was easy, thank you so much

Same here, I have (2) 43 inch, set to 2K (2560 X 1440) I love this arrangement. the TVs are hanging on wall mounts in my office. Ones an LG the other is an Hisence. When it's time to take a break and watch Netflix I use the LG but the Hisence does a better job of being a screen. The 2K makes it possible to get a good resolution screen shot for quick prints to send to folks.

Me too. I'll never go back to the old ways.

Changing Existing Defaults After Creating Rooms
BeachHouse1 replied to BeachHouse1's topic in General Q & A
I'm sorry I haven't answered yet. I've been a little frustrated at the level of complexity of building Piling Home Foundations in Chief. There are several different approaches explained in videos and articles. None of which seem to create conditions that accurately represent the methods used in constructing homes on pilings. When I sort this all out, I would like to explore this topic some more. -
I've changed the Floor Default to be supplied by the Foundation Room below. After drawing the entire floor plan, I decided to change it. In the individual rooms it's disabled. Any Ideas? Thanks,

Speaking of AutoCad. First, I wouldn't go back to using it for architecture. I used Architectural Desktop since the nineties, It was never competitive against Chief even with the VisionRez extensions. Having said that. I am amazed at how seriously lacking the CAD portion of Chief is. Offset lines that require an instructions manual. Copy and paste with endless mouse clicks, no construction lines, the list goes on. You would think that if they are interested in eroding the massive AutoCad market they would go directly after the feature set so many people are used to. The AutoCad CAD portion actually works better. This is a perfect time to get AutoCAD users to switch to Chief, Autodesk is focusing on ending AutoCad Architecture and switching everyone over to Revit. Many of them, like myself, that have made an entire career from Autodesk products will not want to learn Revit, Revit is really primarily for teams working on Commercial buildings. The point is, many would embrace not having to give up the advanced Cad tools, and get all of the residential design tools from Chief. My free two sense.

Thanks Y'all.

I'm sorry to ask so many really basic questions. I have found that searches for information from Chief, on the Web, sometime requires very specific search filters. I'm trying to find out if there is a quick method for changing from "Intersected Objects" to "Contained Objects" without going to the preferences? The following article shows the Preference Method. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00130/changing-marquee-selection-modes.html

Thank you Tommy

Thanks Dermont, All squared away. Your answer led me to some videos on customizing the toolbar. The proper names you supplied made the difference.

Good Morning, In several videos I have seen a dropdown in the toolbar that allows selecting the Dimension Style. I believe it shows the "Saved Dimension Defaults". i can't find it, nor can I find a way to add it. Thanks,

My Biggest Chief Architect Issue. Dragging the Cursor.
BeachHouse1 replied to BeachHouse1's topic in General Q & A
I have alternate buttons on my mouse. I have been practicing using a thumb button. I expect I will get better at it. Truly, so far I like the work flow in Chief better than the work flow in AutoCad Architecture. -
Been holding off talking about this. I've been able to adapt to the changes from AutoCad Architecture fairly well so far. With one major exception. The drag the cursor work flow. This method has some serious shortcomings. I know you can right click when making walls and this allows you to click a point and then click another point. This is good, but you can't start out with a right click. The biggest problem is when you need to zoom in on one thing select it and then zoom in on another. This is extremely difficult when dragging. What have some of you done to work around this, or is there a setting somewhere to changes it? Thanks

Dimensions, Cabinet Faces Drawers and Doors
BeachHouse1 replied to BeachHouse1's topic in General Q & A
It does have a snap to a degree. The cursor turns white as it crosses the line of the door in wall elevation. It seems pretty kludgy though. -
I can't figure how to make dimension that snap to cabinet face objects. I'm trying to show the actual face object (drawer faces and cabinet doors) sizes for the shop. Any ideas? Thanks,
-
Sorry Guys I accidentally deleted the other thread. As Mark and Solver said. The key to getting the line to snap to door casings is to click the CAD Detail From View under the CAD Drop-down menu
-
Version 3 is just a wall cabinet with the corners clipped.
-
Version 2 Same process but in this one we left the cabinet length A little longer and added a thin cabinet to the face of the center cabinet and gave it two doors.
-
Hey Guys, Thanks for helping. I discovered a work around. In the first one we needed a cabinet with the sides having a total mitered side. This was achieved by adding corner cabinets on both sides. Next we removed the extra until it created a triangular cabinet. The only problem with this was the automatic crown molding would not work. We added a polyline molding.
-
Thanks Eric, The outline of the wall cabinet is the part with the rectangular door on it's face.
-
I need to make a cabinet that has angled side. Included is a plan view. If anyone knows where I can look at a video, or something, that would be really great. Thanks

Thank you, I was feeling the frustration. It's really nice to find out that this program is so mature.
