It appears to be the Active Layer Display Options that has a minimum width. If I take it from the right side, I'm able to adjust the library browser freely. The issue is that this minimum width seems to have arbitrarily increased with the x13 beta for no apparent reason. I'm using multiple monitors but the other monitors are typically used for other things needed to see for the drawing. I'd like to keep the windows separated between the right and the left as I prefer the drawing area centered in the screen. Am I just out of luck? I have a large dead area of white space in the layer option panel.

Hey all. I've updated to the X13 beta. My side windows (library browser and Active Layer Display Options) have had their minimum width increased, making my drawing window even smaller. It will not allow me to make the side windows smaller than they are, only bigger. Is there a way around this? See the attached image below. I want the right side windows, maybe, 2/3 or less of the size they are currently.

Yea I used to work for a drafting company that designed custom homes. I learned a lot from them in a year but was out of work for a month before coming to my current job. Current job is a contractor that mostly does kit and bath remodels so I honestly don't even do much structural stuff. Nobody at this company has anywhere near the construction knowledge of my previous job, kinda bummed on that. edit: on that, I do have a basic understanding of structural related knowledge, but it's so infrequently used I tend to have to look up what I need to know every time from an older set of plans thats been engineered.

lag, stuttering when you switch pages, just a lack of smoothness in the program is really what I mean. Frame drop probably not the best term in this instance, more so applies to video games etc.

Live camera views, how much of a frame drop does that cause you? Just curious. Part of my issue is I'm also only 2 years into the industry and don't entirely understand how everything is actually built in the field, which makes learning how to build in chief more to learn. Is there a good, recent tutorial on how to build from the ground up? I've checked some out in the past 1.5 years but a lot of what I find is old and when I try to follow them, they tell me to do something in a dialog box thats been moved to another location or removed entirely.

This is exactly how I've done it. White/no fill for any existing walls, on their own layer. New walls I use various different hatches available and on their own layer. This was how I learned to draw in AutoCAD and I just migrated that process over to Chief. Would be nice to have more hatch flexibility and more default patterns though, as with bigger jobs with lots of wall types, I end up using some crazy hatch patterns. I haven't had the time to learn how to use many of Chief's auto tools and I always just end up drawing my own sections in CAD. I really need to learn how to build from the ground up in Chief, foundation, framing, all of it. Feel like it would save me tons of time.

Yea that should be pretty basic should I need to, just a bit more time consuming. Luckily not necessary for this project as it turns out we're not touching that window after all, but will remember for the future. Thanks again.

I wasn't familiar with this tool until just now. The majority of my work is remodels, especially in big condos with boxed out chases eveywhere etc. How does this tool prevent you from needing tons of wall types? Because I've got 15+ lol.

Hey all, Using CA Premier X12 on Windows 10. I am trying to create a large bay window that is existing in my customers house. There are no corner posts between 3 windows, yet it seems it will only allow me to achieve this affect with 2 windows. Adding a 3rd window creates a corner post between 2nd and 3rd, despite all 3 having the corner post box unchecked. See the highlighted area in the attached image. Per this thread from 2019, Solver says that corner posts only work with 2 windows as we see here. I would assume this hasn't changed? Custom modeling a window for this space isn't exactly time friendly (for me, at least). Is this my only recourse here? Thanks

Oops, I thought I replied to this yesterday, sorry. Thanks for all the replies everyone. Spent a few hours last night duplicating all relevant layers to have new and existing for each and then spent some time making a test remodel design. It's gonna take some tweaking to get exactly what i want reporting to the material list, but the results are what I was looking for.

I am using CA Premier X12 on Windows 10. I am looking to create a material list that only gives me materials for the new stuff in my remodel. My existing plan and proposed plan are separate plan files. I watched a couple of the tutorials on materials lists but they were on material lists for an addition rather than a remodel. Is there a video I might've missed somewhere, or is what I want to do just not possible? Any advice is appreciated, Thanks.

Was there anything in there about Multiline dimension text? Thats probably my most missed feature, being certified in and having previously used AutoCAD.

Huh, odd. Maybe I need to create a new default template or something, been using an older one I've updated here and there from X11.

I am working in Chief architect premier x12 on Windows 10. I have built an elevated structure with a stem wall on piers with a wood floor, and wood walls above. When I go into a Full Overview camera, I am unable to see my foundation or floor framing despite the fact that the layers are on. I am able to see them when I go into a framing overview camera. What's the issue here?
