  10. framing over view. I want to be able to just see the framing members of the drawing. I have looked at both perspectives perspective and orthographic but do not see the view of only framing. thanks.
  11. How to turn on the stick framing view in x10?
  12. I was wondering if x10 had generic files that showed basic concrete drawings, etc. In my older version 7 had plan files you could print with the plotter along with the actual drawing. Just wondering.
  13. Thanks to all for the info. Still learning but the curve is steep.
  14. Kbird1, You know how annoying the little things are. I am practicing on drawing my new car port and it is so simple is completely frustrates me. I draw the trusses adding them to top plates at 10' ht. Looking at them in 3 d they show to be below the top plate. Cannot figure out how to correct. If you have time an you explain what I am doing wrong. Thanks, Steve car port_2019_01_29.plan
  15. Just saw the revised plan , thanks for the info and fixing the plan. I appreciate it. Steve
  16. Attached is the plan file. Thanks for the help. Steve's Pole Barn # 2_auto_save.plan
  17. I have nearly completed a pole barn drawing, 30 x 40 with a covered porch of 30 x 12 on the front. I figured out how to add the ceiling purlins to the porch but now can not get the ceiling of the porch to accept the material. I plan to cover the entire structure with standing seam material on 2 x 4 purlins.
  18. I am asking bout two items on my pole barn drawing. First, how did you place the metal sheathing on the gable ends on the barn?

Second, how did you make purlins on the roof for the metal. Al I can do is make roof blocking.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Take a look and see what you think.  The last truss is sometimes a little tricky.  What happens is depending on the wall location and definition you will run out of roof plane or ceiling plane below and the truss requires both of those to build. What you need to do is just slide it in until it is happy and then build it the way you need and lock it and then slide it out to where it needs to be.  Turn on the labels and when you see TR-** that means not happy, if you get a TR-## then you are good.

If the shed roof was 3/12 you could just extend the main roof plain out to cover the shed but it should work ok the way it is in Sunny Texas I would think.

See if you can move a purlin over from the other file.

      Chopsaw,

This is the latest I have completed on the new plan set. I am figuring out a lot as I work with the program. I still cannot get the porch ceiling to be covered with the same siding as the sides.

My next addition is to be the shed roof area on the long 40' side of the building no slab just posts and metal roof.

Also, can you explain how the material list gets the footage for the 12' x 36" metal siding.

Hi Steve,  Fixed a few things for you in this plan file.

Porch ceiling is done in the room Structure DBX take a look at the changes I made.  White will reflect more natural light for working but you can change to brown if you like.

See previously posed plan file for shed roof.

For 12' material change the material definition to Sheet and it will allow you to enter the length.

Added a Purlin back into the plan so you can see how it behaves better than a rafter.

Maybe talk this evening if there is time.

  19. Hey guys, I hate to be a pest but I need a suggestion. I have completed my pole barn drawing with the exception of the exterior wall sheathing on the gable end on the trusses. I have searched videos, references and the tutorials with no luck. I found the sheet metal layer after two days waiting for the files to download, (said my internet was slow, and times out) and finished walls. Thanks ahead of time. Steve
  20. I am about totally frustrated trying to aline the trusses with the top of walls. I have raised the roof line but the trusses will not move. Pic is below.
