When I recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7, I now have a major problem with my HP plotter. Any one else having problems??? X8 user. Thanks. Mark

Thanks to all! Mark

can I do that just for the detail? I have other drawings on the plan sheet
-
I am trying to send a detail drawn at 1/4" to the layout page, changing the scale to 1/2". The problem is that the dimensions and text double in size because of the scale change. I seem to remember that there is a way to retain the dimension & text size while increasing the drawing scale. Am I correct? I suppose I could change the text and dimension sizes to half on the drawing and THEN send over but I don't think that is the right method. Please help. X-8 user. Many thanks. Mark

Greg, I think this is also from Kohler. Not exactly what I was looking for. Have anything else? I know I've seen them in person. Don't recall the manufacturer & don't know if they have a 3d symbol. Thanks. Mark

Does anyone have a symbol for a freestanding, floor mounted bath faucet? I have a freestanding clawfoot, bathtub & I want a faucet set for it. Kohler does have one ( antique) but I don't care for it. X8 user. Thanks. Mark

Thank you all very much! Glenn- you got it right......set the defaults...edit the foundation....in the foundation DBX, check "hang the first floor platform inside foundation walls"... THEN...on the first floor, having made just exterior walls, open Room DBX...open structure tab.....make sure "floor supplied by foundation room below" is checked and then set "floor" to ZERO. worked perfectly. Thanks! Mark

I have been trying to create a slab on grade but it doesn't come out the way I want. I need a slab, stem wall, and footing. I get the stem wall and footing ok but the slab sits on top of the stem wall ( and the exterior wall sits on top of the stem wall) and I want the slab inside the stem wall. Is there an easy way to accomplish this? X8 user. Thanks. Mark

Thanks, David. Now works very well. Mark

I was trying to get a sunny outdoor front view of my project. I had the northpointer, sun angle, turned on shadows and the perspective & full overview turned out just fine. The front turned out nice and sunny. But when I did a raytrace, it darkened considerably. What am I doing wrong? Any suggetions? X8 user. Thanks. Mark

I bought 4k HDMI cables so I know that part is ok....everything else is....fuzzy....it doesn't sound like I can use the laptop and must use the pc. -

Guys, Thanks for the GPU clarification....learned something new. So it sounds like using the llaptop is not to be....and won't be buying a new one as the current one is fairly new. I was wondering if you had any comments about my other questions related to my pc. Can I use a single HDMI monitor output into the 4k on the tv? Would that work and be in 4k, with the right graphics card or gpu? Mark -

Graham, Is there a particular 4k video card you recommend? Does Nividia make a good one? Thanks,\. Mark -

Joe, So a better video card wouldn't have any effect on the 4k tv? My desktop pc does. I have no HDMI connection other than the monitor HDMI output. Could I use that to connect to the HDMI on the "Smart hub" on the tv? Lastly, pardon my ignorance but what does "GPU" mean? I've heard of "CPU"...."central processing unit"....the motherboard and the processor. I do use a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse for the pc but I'm not sure tyhe signal is strong enough to reach the tv......but it is in an adjacent room. Thanks. Mark -
I am currently running X7. I have a laptop with a Nividia, GeForce video card, 840M, resolution set to the max- 1920 x 1080. I recently connected it to my new Samsung 75", 4k, smart tv. It connected fine but the resolution on the tv screen using Chief was very disappointing. The lines weren't sharp, the 3d views not very sharp. I'm wondering if it is my video card, or a setting in Chief that is giving me a disapponting result- or something else. When first connected, the overall screen looks very clear and sharp. Using windows 8 OS. Any suggestions? Thanks. Mark

Thank you all for your help. I have made a new plan & layout page & tried a few things. On the layout page, the map in the upper right corner was a normal picture, the map in the middle had the "saved in plan" box checked, and the bottom right corner ( closest to the page number), had both "saved in plan" and "current screen as image" boxes checked. When I plotted the sheet, the upper right map was mostly there but it had a narrow, blank area cutting thru the bottom third of the map. The middle map didn't plot out at all. The bottom right map plotted fine. I guess it's an enigma that won't be solved. It may very well be the driver. I guess the moral is to not try and plot jpg files or plot them only by checking "current screen as image". Sorry to have beaten this to a pulp. Thanks again
-
Just to add to the confusion....I use 2 different layout page sizes. When I use the smaller sheet, it plots out fine. It's only when I use the larger sheet do I have the problem. I also tried sending the file by selecting, under the "send options", "send current screen as image" and that plotted as well. So I think it must be something in the settings of the larger size layout page. Mark

Ok...this is very weird that the jpg isn't there....it sounds like this is part of the problem. I see everything fine on my computer...both the plan file and the layout file. This is not a pdf file....I plotted it directly.
-
I scanned in a file....jpg and imported it into my drawing. I then sent the drawing, including the sca21412ELEVATOR.plan21412ELEVATOR.layout21412ELEVATOR.layoutnned file to my layout. When I look at the layout page, the scanned file shows up just fine. But when I print the page out, the file is not there....a blank space where the file should be and the rest of the page prints just fine. I have tried everything. Anybody have any ideas? Using X7. Thanks. The area in question is the "Location Map" picture on the first page. Mark

Thank you guys so much! I had it turned off.....don't know how that happened. Mark
-
I changed the lineweight many times for both lines and the lineweights in layers but the change is not reflected in the plan. What am I doing wrong?? I have tried everything. I have a feeling it's something simple...I hope. Using X7. Thanks Mark

Thank you so much, Wendy! Love it when there's a simple solution.

I had read that X7 can exclude interior walls from showing in the dimension string for automatic exterior dimensions but I can't seem to find out how to make that happen. I know it's probably simple. Can anyone help me? Thanks. Mark
