  1. Hi~ Can anyone tell me what I need to change so that the upper level openings don't show up in the basement/foundation walls? I'm working off of a plan someone else started and there are funny little things showing up that I can't seem to figure out... Thanks.
  2. Hi all. I am trying to move an upper dormer bump out and the window in it. Possibly because of different ceiling conditions below the bump out (part of it is open to above, part of it has ceiling), I can't get my bump-out to move and to center it. It should be centered on the door below. There is no need for me to accurately model the interior at this point, we just need the front elevation to look correct. I am also aware that I have an extra 3rd floor level that shouldn't be there (There is a balcony level that was never drawn in; I've been learning a lot as I go). I think that the extra level causes the extra lines to show up on my exterior. I don't have the time to re-draw the whole thing at this point since we'd like to go for permit soon. If any experienced chief user could help me figure out how to clean this front elevation up (with limited hours available), I'd sure appreciate it! Thank you! Karen Building Reduced File Size.zip
  3. Thanks once again for you help! Much appreciated.
  4. Can anyone tell me how to do one of these actions? 1. Change the size of the text in the roof slope indicator. -or- 2. Remove the roof slope indicator, so I can put the text in at the correct size. The text shows up very tiny and I am hoping someone knows an easy fix. Thanks.
  5. Joe- I went in to the wall dialog- copied the wall type to create a new one, renamed it as a parapet brick wall. Does that make sense?
  6. Thanks for all the good information, everyone. I am having 2 issues on my building: 1. I'm still trying to make my existing parapet walls work in my church addition plan. I'm trying to define my walls as a 15 5/8" brick wall that the parapet is made of, then change "Lower Wall if Split by Butting Roof"...but it isn't working. The lower wall all changes to the new wall type. The lower wall type should be a block wall inside with a brick veneer. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a better way to do it? Obviously when I change materials on the inside of the building, it extends all the way up through the parapet. 2. When I have a corner with two different wall types meeting, it is hard to make the transition look correct. Does anyone have a tip that would help me with this? Thank you so much. Karen I've already gotten a lot of help from: "Struggling with parapet gable walls"
  7. Hello, Can anyone tell me if you can move the terrain to another floor level? I drew it on the main floor plan, but would really rather show it on the basement (walk-out) floor plan. Also, I'm having a similar issue with polyline solids... Can they be moved to another floor level without copy/paste? I love how the roof planes can be moved to a different plan level that way. Thanks. Karen
  8. Hello- I am using an old version of X8 that I can't upgrade because it is my builder's old version. I am trying to decide if I should purchase my own license of X10. I have been using HD to create concept drawings of a church addition. Now we need to create construction drawings and I wonder if Chief will be able to do what I need it to do... The existing building and the addition both have a sloped steel roof and 18" parapet walls that follow the slope of the roof. For my concept drawings I just drew a roof over the walls, for a visual representation. In Chief X10, would I be able to create sloped parapet walls with a steel cap on them? There is no parapet at the front or the back walls, the sloped roof overhangs those walls by a few inches. The addition and existing building would both need to do this. I have not had trouble drawing parapet walls, it's just the slope that isn't working for me. If it isn't possible to get Chief X10 to do this, I may have to do the construction drawings in AutoCAD...but I really don't want to! If anyone has any experience with this, I'd appreciate it! I can't find anything online regarding this issue. The first two images are of the existing building, and the HD images are of the existing building in the back with the addition concept on the near side (showing my representation of the roofs). Thank you!
