  1. Michael: Hi. Thank you kindly. Turning the layers off is def helping. Have a fab day!
  2. When I export a cross section/elevation as a "cad detail from view", there a multiple layers of cad lines on top of each other. When I got to delete a cad line, there is another underneath. It takes a few times of deleting a line to finally remove it. Any way to prevent this from happening? See attached video clip. TIA. Recording #119.mp4
  3. Thank you so much for your help. I was able to fix the issue. I also updated my signature. Have a great night!
  4. Hello. I am having issues with an exterior wall. There seems to be a random base plate that is generating a few feet about the first floor level. It appears that this plate may also be causing an issue up at the second floor where there is a hole in the exterior wall. I try deleting the base plate, but I am not able to select. How can I fix this so that the exterior wall generates properly. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you kindly. See the areas circled in orange on the attached photos. Link to PLAN FILE
  5. @javatom. Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try.
  6. Eric - Thank you for letting me know about plan needing to be closed. Ok. Here is the plan. Thanks. Lake Remodel 1.plan
  7. The thought is to build the new shed roof over the existing roof plane Trying to upload plan. CA is telling me there is an error processing upload. File is 14.1 mb and max upload is 25 mb.
  8. @joey_martin Thank you for your response. There was an invisible wall there. I removed it then regenerated roof framing, the rafter depth issue remains. By the way, thanks for the FWIW about the depth of rafter. I should've known that. Just goes to prove that I need more caffeine today. Ha.
  9. Hello. I am running into an issue where automatically framed rafters are not the same width along the rafter's length. Has anybody run into this? If so, any thoughts on how I can fix this would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. See attached photo.
  10. @rgardner Thank you! It worked! I am out of practice with CA, but getting back into the groove.
  11. Thank you everybody for your feedback. @DRAWZILLA I would also need to turn off the attic walls in the perspective overview and that creates other issues on gable walls. @solver Attached is a pic of the particular wall I need to remove. @rgardner Is there a way to stop the foundation from trying to build up to the roof? I tried the Wall Specs --> Structure ---> Platform settings to see if any of these would work. No luck.
  12. Hello. I am starting a remodeling plan based off of an existing plan. When I delete an exterior first floor wall (i.e. a wall that is being demolished), an attic wall shows in its place and the floor disappears in perspective overview. Why are attic walls being automatically generated for my first floor exterior walls? Any suggestion on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. TIA ! Remodel 1.plan
  13. I found the Auto Interior Dimension tool icon in "Tools"...."Toolbars"..."Customize Toolbars" and had to drag it onto the toolbar ribbon. I can't place it under the auto dimensions parent tool.
  14. @solverThanks for your response. I also checked under "CAD"..."Automatic Dimensions" and it is not there either. It's also not under "Tools" ..."Toolbars"....."Customize Toolbars".
  15. My automatic interior dimension tool has disappeared. Has anybody had this problem? If so, how do I get it back again? Thank you for your help.
  16. @solverThanks for advice about chatroom. I will post in there. I am teaching architecture and using CA as tool for the students to produce their projects. The students will be graded on their CA abilities. I am an architect and entering the teaching profession so this will be my first time teaching this class. @DavidJPotterThank you for the list of resources.
  17. Hi. I am teaching architecture this year at the high school level and super excited to be using Chief Architect in the classroom. I have visited the CA getting started web page which has tons of information. I also purchased the CA training tutorial. There is so much great information. Just trying to figure out how to simplify all the content. Any teaching/curriculum suggestions or advice? Thank you in advance. Have a fantastic day.
  18. @Chrisb222. Thank you. Saving the view to layout worked. For some reason, I thought that once you created the cross section, it automatically added it to the browser. Thanks again. Have a great day!
  19. For some reason, my cross sections and back clipped cross sections are not linking to the project browser. Has anybody had this problem? If so, any tips/solutions would be appreciated. Thank you kindly.
  20. Thanks for the feedback everybody. :) Glenn: There should only be one terrain. In my CA plan, I got frustrated with and started to make some topography by using poly line solids. That’s the bit you see off to the left of the terrain in your pic above of the terrain you got to show up in camera view. I am going to look at the original cad file and see if I can clean it up and then reimport it into CA.
  21. Hi. I imported a terrain perimeter with elevation data from a .dwg file. I can't see the terrain in any of my camera views. I checked to make sure that a terrain perimeter was created and that each contour line has an elevation associated with it. It does. Attached is my .plan and the .dwg file I imported. Many thanks in advance for any help. I'm using X10 on my iMac. E18-00044 SITE PLAN.dwg test.plan
  22. Hi. Thank you both for the quick responses - especially since I have a meeting in 12 hours from now to show my clients a design. lol. I will give it a try.
  23. Hi. How do I create a curved roof edge on a shed roof (low slope 1:-12) ? I know how to make a simple shed roof, but cannot figure how to get the edge to curve to follow the wall below. Attached are photos of similar roof I am trying to create for my boathouse project. Attached is also my chief file. I am using X10. Any help is appreciated. Thank you kindly. CA_Roof Question.plan
  24. Hi. Thank you everybody for your feedback. I'm up and running now. Have a great weekend.
  25. Eric, Thanks for the tips as I have not posted in the forum many times before. Attached is plan file. Thank you for any insight. Roof Structure Model_for CA__02.23.2018.plan
