  1. Ah that's what I was afraid of, thanks for the reply tho
  2. I wouldn't suggest it, I had an HP all in one before I built my custom PC. It had intel integrated graphics and rendered images that my 2 year old cold draw better. I'm not talking a cheap computer either, around $1200. I had it less than a year before I went ahead and bit the bullet for a better build. The biggest con with the all in ones was not having the ability to upgrade anything (gpu, memory, cpu, etc.). Not to mention the touch screen seemed to distort the picture quality and on screen detail of my drawings. But other than that it would of been perfectly fine to run CA if I could just upgrade the gpu and maybe throw a little bit more ram in there. But nope... don't waste your money bud, go with a desktop.
  3. Oh i definetly could still multitask, and usually do. Ive noticed I've gotten roughly 20 HQ passes in around 5 mins with 5-10 lights on realtime max cores. When running normal priority while multitasking and allocating 14 cores to RT I'm around 20 mins for the same amount passes
  4. Hey guys, i'm a custom woodworker and I use chief architect to design custom cabinetry and provide customers with a visual reference for our jobs. Most of our work is either custom built-ins, Kitchens, bathroom vanities, etc. I was wondering if chief has the ability to create cut sheets and build blueprints for the cabinetry? From what I've seen there is not, and if there isn't, is there any software available to upload a chief plan into to create a cut sheet? I'm talking cabinet sides, dados, face frames, etc. (not floor plans, elevations with dimensions, or cabinet schedules) Right now I do all the layouts by hand and it would be nice if I could simply upload a plan file to another program and get the cut sheets made directly from that.
  5. One thing that has helped me out a lot, if you tend to leave ray trace alone and let it do its thing (and not operate any other programs or apps on your computer while its running) like I do. Is set your priority level to high instead of normal. The option for this is right above your affinity tab in your task manager. I usually set mine to realtime, while ensuring I don't operate any other programs (while my hardware is capable of the realtime setting without crashing, not sure what your build is), but this usually speeds up the process significantly for me. Id give it a go on high setting at least and see if this helps.
  6. Thank you for your reply! I hope they can address this issue, ray traces look horrible compared to x9. No definition in countertop material as well as shadows and lighting reflection missing. As for the RCSS, the cpu working harder for me is no concern. I'm running a Ryzen threadripper along side a GTX 1080Ti... So hardware should be no issue at all for the new features
  7. Here are the differences between the x9 ray trace and x10 ray trace. Using same exact settings, aside from the reflection option. Seems like lighting is wonky and not as bright as well. And I've lost many of my great shadows... Seems as if the quick preset for ray tracing is gone as well, only HQ options. ray trace 1.tif x10 ray trace.tif
  8. So I'm a bit upset with this new update. Maybe someone can help me here, but have they removed the reflection option from the material class? One of the greatest features CA had when it came to ray trace rendering was the ability to add a reflection to any material. I found it handy for adding to granite countertops, floors, and even backsplashes etc. for ultimate lighting/realistic photo quality renderings. I just installed the beta x10, and went to material definition as I always do before a ray trace... and come to find out NO reflection category at all now. While there still is a mirror setting, shiny metal, and polished category, there is no longer the ability to adjust the reflection of a material manually without changing to a metal or mirror preset (which normally turns everything black). The new physical based rendering does seem to add a reflection to a few materials such as granite countertops, however its extremely upsetting that I no longer have the ability to adjust manually.. Please CA bring this back or I will be stuck using x9 and losing out on all the new features, or please explain what I can do to have the reflection option back. Thanks...
