This was exactly what I was wanting. Can you explain how you were able to do a separate roof over the RV storage and complete the roof lines on the house - Thankyou
-
I have a plan here with an attached RV storage adjacent to the house. It shares a wall with the house. I would like hip walls only on this particular plan. Each time my roof is auto built I have a house/RV wall length where the roof is not actually connected to the house itself - it looks correct over the RV storage area but is wide open along the house side. -??? The RV storage is 12 ft. tall (no ceiling) and the house itself has 9 ft. ceilings. I'm not sure if I've even drawn it accurately as it probably needs to be on a bearing wall. So do they share the wall between them or do I need some sort of additional support/wall? Rambler House.plan

i would like the triangle Gable front on the deck matching on the right side as well. How do I accomplish this? Also I'm seeing a weird slant on the ceiling plane underneath right side of deck, what is causing that?? -
Does someone have a technique or default setting suggestions for making flat ceilings over an entry porch with a double gable. So - one gable overlaps the other. The main entry is a raised deck with the Main Gable extending over it. I have tried roof default settings and checked the 'Make Ceiling in Room'. Nothing is working under the entire roof surface. After adding a full basement to a 2 story house my ceiling heights were accidently changed. i need 8 ft. ceilings (including the basement). After adding a foundation (to my 3 stories) the 2nd story jumped to 10 ft. I'm not able to change it to 8 ft. without disturbing the other floor heights. I did manually try to change the 2nd floor height in the floor dialogue box. My walkout deck corresponding to the 2nd story also is out of whack. How do I edit my floor without disturbing the other floors, stairs, deck, etc.?

I often have trouble drawing a roof that is below another roof, i.e. on a 2nd or 3rd story house. If i use "Build Roof Planes", the roof planes keep will build on the upper floor even though i am working on the 1st Level. They attach to the upper story roof instead of a 1st story roof plane. How do I correct this? In this instance I have a deck and entry door at a split level and this is where I would like the roof to appear over.

OK, Thanks I'll try it- before redrawing

I was creating a terrain perimeter and site plan. However, I realized my house was turned around. After rotating it around I made the mistake of not checking the 3D view. After nearly finishing the site plan I realized the upper floor is a 180 degree turn from the upstairs. Is there a good way to fix this? My house is pretty messed up, weird things going on in the walls and roof. I did try to group select the upstairs and rotate it back but everything is not getting selected and there are holes and gaps in roof and walls.

I have used the gable tool a few times and have been frustrated with it when nothing happened. I didnt know a Gable/ Roof Line existed in Edit Toolbar, Thanks for the tips!

Love the video! I understand the process more easily when I see it demonstrated in a video. THANKYOU again, I also appreciate seeing Auto Build and Manual methods demonstrated.

And thank you also, William

I rewatched the video and yes I've corrected it to be one plane now, Thankyou
-
Thankyou Eric, it looks correct - but how did you know where to break the wall to make the gable wider? Both the front and back trusses sit at the same point, on the same bearing wall. Sorry, I am using Chief X11 on a Mac

Kenoeightspot, Looks great! Can you please explain your process?

Ok, here is another roof design on the same plan I posted earlier today. Problem now is my ridge is not following through in a straight line from north to south. I am not understanding why. I made North and South walls Gable (and I put a a break in the middle of the south wall so Gable would not span the whole width of the house). The builder wants everything 5/12 , and a straight ridge up top - not the funky jog the auto build produced S.K.Fizette_master_plan_COPY_3_copy.plan

Awesome tips! Love the Video!!! Thankyou for the simple fix and the different RENDERING, minus the grid thing, so much easier to see exactly how my roof planes are or are not joining. THANKYOU

Ok that worked! -But I still have one edge between the gable and hip that are close but still not connected S.K.Fizette_master_plan_copy.plan
