  1. Hello all. I need help with the attached plan. I'm trying to learn about the relationship between the terrain, and house foundation. In my test plan, I have a sloped lot. I want the foundation to "follow" the terrain. In this example, there will be a larger foundation in the front and gradually decrease toward the back of the house. I am a novice but slowly trying to understand terrain and foundation relationship. I'm hoping this has a simple solution. Any tips, suggestions, videos are greatly appreciated. Thx Roz TERRAIN TEST.plan
  2. Thanks Greg. I'll have a look. Roz
  3. Kenoeightspot, Both of your plans worked beautifully and perfectly. Its what I needed to get started on my plan. Thanks so much for taking time. As always, this forum is invaluable. Thx All, Roz
  4. Thanks Alaskan_Son. Yes, I asked this question months, and thus since got it working for the front view wall. My current post is for the side walls as well since it seems a bit of a different technique. Thx Roz
  5. Thanks for the reply William. Do you mind posting your plan so I can see exactly how you did this? I'm a bit of a novice. So your plan will help me learn. Thx Sir
  6. Hello all. I'm trying to achieve the sloped/angled wall like in the pic. The angle wraps around the columns as I've seen this house in person. I've been able to design it in the front view of my two columns, however, I'm unsure how to do it with the side walls. My X8 plan is attached for reference. Any thoughts, pointers are always appreciated. Thx Roz Sloped Wall.plan
  7. Thanks folks for the replies. ShaneK, your design helped a lot. I was able to reproduce it exactly. GeneDavis, thanks as well. And yes, this is for a design in Texas. Roz
  8. Hello Folks. I'm trying to create the metal awning/overhang brackets in the attached photo. CA has wood brackets, but I'm interested in the "thinness" of these metal brackets in the pics. Was wondering if anyone had an idea how best to create them. I use CA X8. Thanks all Roz
  9. Thanks gentlemen. The lintel option worked perfectly. Roz
  10. Hi Folks. I'm trying to figure out how to add a crown molding over a door or doorway. I see where I can add crown molding to a room's ceiling, but I want to add it as a piece of trim over a door or doorway. Attached photos are similar to what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm using X8. Any tips you can offer are greatly appreciated. Hopefully this is an easy one. Thanks Roz
  11. Problem solved!!!! I used Alaska_Son's recommendation, and IT WORKED PERFECTLY! Wow, that was easy. I've been struggling with this for hours, and turns out it was as simple as Alaska_Son said it is. Thanks everyone who took time to read, and reply. Thanks again to the CA Nation! Roz
  12. Thanks for the reply, Chopsaw. I'd prefer the plot plan remain as a cad detail as it is now. Yes, Bode and Trophy Oaks are two lots I'm considering building on. I'm wanting to see how the house will sit on either lot...hence I'm trying to also display the driveway. Thanks Roz
  13. Hello all. I still cannot properly display the driveway on the plot WITHOUT also displaying the terrain perimeter and an additional plot plan. I'm already on the plot plan and when I create a new footprint, it brings over ANOTHER plot plan (now I have two) along with the driveway. I don't know why the footprint has another plot plan around it. Hope I'm not confusing anyone. I attached the plan earlier. This is driving me crazy. I simply want to display the driveway on my plot plan WITHOUT the terrain perimeter and WITHOUT the additional plot plan. If I check "Display Plan Details" that's when it displays the terrain perimeter and an additional plot plan. Aaargh!!!! I am a NOVICE with CA, so PLEASE provide detailed (ie dummy proof) suggestions, tips, pointers. Thank you all so much Roz
  14. Yes, it show correctly on the default set. And it shows on the plot plan only when I turn on 'Display Plan Details'. However when I turn on 'Display Plan Details', it also shows another copy of the plot plan on top of the existing plot plan. Something is out of sync and I cannot figure it out. Roz
  15. Sorry, my plan is now attached. Roz BODE CIRCLEv2.plan
  16. Good Morning CA Nation! On my plan, I've drawn a driveway but the driveway doesn't show on my plot plan. What am I doing wrong? Thx Roz
  17. All, I have been able to accomplish my goal. I used a combination of your thoughts, ideas, videos, guidance. Thank you all very very much. In the end, I simply made a plan footprint and used CAD points, lines, arcs to create the plot plan around the house footprint. Works perfectly. Thanks again Roz
  18. Hi Folks. Just reporting back. The videos have been EXTREMELY helpful. I've been able to draw a plot plan (not perfect but I'm learning). However, the plot plan is MUCH MUCH larger than my drawing sheet and I don't know why its at a larger scale. My end goal is to eventually place the house within the footprint of the plot (after I create the setbacks). But for now, I can't figure out why the plot plan is significantly larger. I've attached my house plan. Go to CAD Detail Management and open the "Site Plan". You'll see what I'm talking about. I've also attached a screenshot. I have also attached a copy of the survey. Your help is greatly appreciated. Roz TOAKS_TILEBID.plan
  19. Awesome, everyone. I'll check out the videos. Thanks much Roz
  20. Hi Folks. I use X8. Can someone tell me how to create a plot plan? I know this may sound like a simple request, but I've only used CA to design house plans and have never ventured into creating plot plans. I have the survey coordinates on a non-scaled survey but would like to reproduce it in CA. Any how-to steps, videos, etc would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much Roz
  21. Actually, it's in Austin, Texas. Roz
  22. Thanks everyone for your input. I'll give them a try. By the way, the slope does wrap. Roz
  23. Hello, all. I use CA X1. Can someone provide insight on how to create an angled/slope wall like in the attached pic (circled in yellow)? A step by step how-to would be greatly appreciated as I am no expert in CA...but still learning. Thanks so much for your time, Roz
  24. Excellent, Doug. Thanks so much. Love this forum!!!!! Roz
  25. Thanks for the response Michael. I appreciate it. I was simply asking if Chief had any option in the decking tools to select a skirt/cover for the deck. Thanks much Roz
