  1. Hello Lance, Thank you for the question.  No, we haven't made any changes for legacy perpetual license customers with active SSA.  We sent you an email notice on December 17 to notify you that your Legacy SSA is set to auto-renew on January 17, 2025.  Since you are on auto-renew, you don't have to do anything. You are also set to receive a receipt via email when your SSA renews Jan. 17.

Feel free to reach out to sales if you have any questions at 208-292-3400 or sales@chiefarchitect.com

    Kind regards,

  3. Hello Robert,

Thank you for the question.  This graphics card will run Chief Architect but it is fairly dated and at the lower end of the performance range.  In addition, this card does not support real time ray tracing so the higher end real time rendering will not be supported with this card.  If you are looking for the optimal graphics card you should consider an AMD RX 7800 or higher or an Nvidia RTX 3070 or 4070 or higher.

Feel free to reach out to our sales department if you need assistance at 208-292-3400.

  4. Hello John,

Thank you for the question and for being a "Chief evangelist"!!!.  We don't currently offer a customer referral program, however I will bring up your request for future consideration.  Thanks again for posting the question and for being a Chief Architect customer.

If one is a legacy user and if they ultimately decide to stop at some point, don’t they get to keep the last version they have paid their SSA into?

This is correct.  If your legacy SSA expires you still have access to a perpetual license of Chief Architect.  The version you have access to is the current version as of the date of expiration.

  6. Hello,

Thank you for the question.  The seller will need to contact our Customer Service directly.  Customer Service will provide the seller with the necessary form and the license transfer fee.  The transfer fee varies depending on the history of the license and can range from $100 up to $900+.  The license transfer fee must be paid, and the License Transfer Form must be signed by both parties before the software license can change ownership.

Note that SSA is not transferrable. If you would like SSA, you would need to purchase it separately through an SSA renewal (if qualifies) or by upgrading.

Let us know if you have any questions.

    Kind regards,

  8. Hello Brett,

There are hundreds of CAD details in the Chief Architect library that have text with arrows describing various sections.  You will find the CAD details in the 'Core Catalogs>CAD Blocks>CAD Details.'  You will find other text notes and legends there too.  There is also a bonus library you can download from our website.  https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/764

If there is text you frequently use in your plans, you can create a CAD detail page in the Project Browser of your Template.  You can also save the text or a CAD block to the library for quick use in future plans.

There are also great suggestions from the other users above, but thought I would add some other options.  The bottom like is that there are lots of ways to efficiently reuse text within the same plan or in new plans.

Feel free to reach out to us with any questions.

    Kind regards,

    Derek

  11. A few weeks ago, we had an opportunity to work one-on-one with @Bella Domicile. In the training session, the topic of adding a decorative toe to a vanity cabinet came up. Bella Domicile provided a hand drawing as an example of what they were looking to accomplish.  We worked together to create the vanity and then put the finished vanity into a bathroom scene.  We used the Chief Architect Raytrace feature to create a final rendering.  If you are interested in how this vanity was put together, download the attached Chief Architect library file and import it into Chief Architect.  You can place the vanity into a plan and explode the architectural block, so that you can examine the individual components and settings that went into creating the vanity.

Going from hand drawn to a 3D model can bring the design to life and give your customer a whole different experience. If you need a certified trainer to help you with a design element in Chief Architect, contact our team at 208-292-3400. We’re here to help!

  12. Chief Architect released an X9 update today.  The update version is 19.3.1.8 and includes a simple wording change in the "Help" menu.  "Deactivate" has been changed to "Manage License" in the menu list.  The function of the command remains the same in that it allows you to manage switching the software license between your computers.

  14. Hello Paul,

Thank you for your recent purchase and for the post.  Your understanding of how the security operates is spot.  You can deactivate by clicking Help>Deactivate in the program or you can log into your online account and deactivate.  Something that may help in managing the license is when you are finished on a given computer, instead of closing the software, Click "deactivate" which will both close and deactivate the software.  This will always leave the software in an active state, so that you can launch Chief Architect wherever you go next.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
