As per usual, my ignorance may prevail; however, will I be able to "cut" tiles in the backsplash as needed? I have my pattern set in ID but need to make it so that I can join the pattern as necessary. I'm liking the way my pattern is showing up with clear tile images since I took them from photos rather than screenshots.

I have a pattern but it is not seamless. So all I know to do is make other collections in InDesign so that I can make the tiles match (ie. pattern shown won't match in the corner now).

Thanks robdyck! What you've shown creates a symmetrical repeat which I don't want. I seem to always complicate things automatically!

Yes! How did you get an image of the icon? So my tiles are jpegs and I gather they need to be something different? Oh yes, I see in my other client file that they were PDF's. So I'm making a backspl. with grout in Adobe InDesign. I'm going to check out now so I can walk my dog. I'll be back at it tomorrow and give a report. DzinEye, when i attempt to put the tile in your plan or mine, I get an "I" in a white circle w/ seriph unlike what is shown here. When I try to take a screenshot to send to you, the cursor makes the I in the circle go away so I'm not able to show you what it looks like and the tile doesn't come into the plan? i have been successful with other brought in images (fabrics, etc.) so not sure what is not working now?

I'll attempt a grout line in AI so it's all one package!

I used Mac photo edit to crop so they are perfectly square. I don't have any grout line since I have photos of each tile. Taking screenshots makes for fuzzier pics. Not sure how I'm going to show the client a terra cotta grout but I'll take that on once I get a damn pattern for the backsplash!

Ok that's what I'm doing now with individual tiles and Adobe AI. I'll see how far I get and check back.

I don't despise the idea but don't understand. In CA, how do I make a special layer? I have the tiles in the Library Browser. Where do I go from there?

Ok I guess I just have to play with it because I am still not understanding the specifics of what you are saying. I'll start with blocks of 9 tiles and import to browser. Seems crazy to pay this much for a program and have it be so time-consuming! I very much appreciate your giving me your time in this!

Thanks Chopsaw! So if I go in to Photoshop and put the tiles together as I want, do I then bring in to Library Browser and how do I apply it to the backsplash? I'm trying now to just apply a single tile and not being successful.

Does anyone have any suggestions for making a 4.25" x 4.25" tile backsplash that I can insert different Talavera tiles in from the Library Browser? CA tech gave me what seems complicated by using the Custom Backsplash tool and creating a slab of each tile. And please don't ask for my signature — if it worked, I'd have it but it doesn't!

When I drew by hand, I used a triangle to signify the entrance to a building or room. Anyone have a suggestion for how to do this in Chief X11?

Oh that did it! I picked sides and corners and now I get dimensions yes I know about alignment. I keep rearranging the lockers and don't know how to get them aligned. I figure when I have a plan I like, I can do the multiple copy again and straighten out.

Ah I see that when I'm attempting to dimension the lockers and grooming stations, I get nothing but with the walls, I get dimensions. How do I fix that? And thank you so very much!

I see a line but then when I finish, nothing is shown. The line has no dimension.
