Hi All

I am trying to lengthen a pendant light.  Resizing it just skews the bowl of the light.  I would just like to lengthen the cord and keep the shape of the bowl intact.  Retaining aspect ratio makes the bowl part HUGE and not retaining skews the shape of the bowl.  I am wondering if this is where the stretching planes come into play.

Thanks for the replies.  That is unfortunate.  I will go back to x9.  I also sent this into tech support. I guess I am glad it is not me or something I  am doing.

Hi All

I am seeing much more speckles in v10 ray trace than in v9.  Same plan, same ray trace settings.  Also just looks different and seems longer.Files attached are 2 passes.  Same lights on.  I have also noticed that when i put an orange cushion on the island stools, it seems worse... I'd attach a plan of just the kitchen layout but is there a way to crop the plan without destroying walls/roof, etc.?

yes, support suggested using 3D trees.  I guess I was using 2D.  They also suggested moving the camera away from the scene, or turn off photon mapping.  Thanks for the links.  I knew I saw 3D trees somewhere.  I am downloading now.  I am glad it is something that can be somewhat fixed.

I have updated the driver but still same problem.  I have removed trees for photon mapping.  I will check with CA tech support to see as well.  But thanks for feedback.

Since everyone was so helpful...I am working on a 3 story + rooftop deck structure.  It is obviously very tall, and I am wondering if there is a way to change the ray trace to portrait vs. landscape.  I have alot of wasted space on the side in landscape orientation,

As well, any tips to flesh out the background.  The terrain kind of just ends.  I added in a pic from google maps of the location, but thought there may be more that I could do,  I just feel like these could look more realistic.  They seem kind of flat...

I have updated my signature.  Just got a new MSI gaming laptop, I sure hope it's not the video card....I checked the CA recommended settings and user forum for best computer and showed to Best Buy guy.  I tried another ray trace of another plan and added a tree and it looked finel  Maybe I had too many trees with too many leaves?  Doesn't do this when photon mapping off.  

It's the trees... I removed all the trees in the plan and no spots.  So how do I put trees in and prevent the spots??

I have the black squares in ray traces (with photon mapping).  I saw a previous post but I didn't really see answers.  Any ideas?

Hi Everyone

I am trying to create a townhome structure with 3 levels with balconies.  The ceiling over one of these balconies looks weird, and is dropped from the roof.  See the attached pic.  How should I correct it?

I was looking into a new laptop and wanted to see what the desired parameters are for optimum use in CA.  I work with pretty big files (100+MB) and now it lags quite a bit.  As well I am wondering if there are video cards that allow showing more than 8 lights at a time.
