Thanks Mick, I noticed that issue as well with the porch roof. There will be another townhome next to this one, so I figured that problem area will be hidden and not worth worrying about . The area I was most concerned about is the bottom eave on the back of the building. It is different than the front bottom eave on the same roof. It does change based on if I check "flush eave" or not. I will probably just uncheck that box and manually re-size the gable siding to fill in that spot. It won't be right, but I think I can get it to look right from the elevations. I was just wondering if there was a cleaner fix. Thanks again

I am having this same problem with the front eave looking different than the back eave on the same roof. I tried to clean the plan up, and I'm sure it's not perfect, but I don't know what else to fix. I've had this same problem on other plans as well. Let me know if you have found a solution or if anybody else has an idea. I have attached my plan in case it's helpful. I am using X9. My goal is the look on the front where the siding continues along the eave to the fascia. thanks plan.zip

thank you, I'll do that.

Hello, I just auto-built floor framing for floor 1, and usually it shows on floor 0 so I can see support walls beneath joists. This time floor 1 framing is appearing on floor 1 plan view. However, when I look at the orthographic view of the framing, it is correct. This may have happened because I changed floor 1 during design. I used to have it as a basement, so on floor 0, but then I added a crawl space underneath, so the "basement" is now floor 1 and the crawl space is floor 0. I would appreciate any help to make the floor framing appear on floor 0 so I can see the crawl space below. Thanks!! Lee, X9 Malley Morris Home new8.zip

thank you! that was easy! I am actually having this problem with a lot of my plans now in X9 even with more normal attic walls than in the plan above. I attached an example here where the attic walls don't quite meet the belly bands where they did before in previous chief versions. I don't know why the side gables look right but the back one doesn't. Making the pony wall (split behind the belly band) would solve the problem, but it seems like the height of the bottom of the attic wall should be something I can control by changing some sort of default setting. Hi All, I am having trouble adjusting the height of attic walls. It seems to be a new problem in version X9. In previous versions, I was able to edit the walls in 3D using the handles and size and shape them manually. See the attached plan. I am working with the attic walls above the garage. I have drawn the belly bands, and I want the walls above the belly band to be board and batten. The ceiling height is set at the belly band height, so that doesn't seem to be what the 3D wall is based on. Thanks for your help! LOT 7 PHEASANT HAVEN, BENNETT.zip

In the camera defaults, there is an option to check edge smoothing while idle, that will give you a final view look.

that fixed it!! Thank you so much! I don't know why I would have ever changed that setting. Thanks again

thanks for the suggestion. Yes, it was already set to 100 in both files, so that's not the problem.

Thanks Shane, line weights are set to default 35, so that's not the issue. I have figured out that it is probably a problem with the layout file because I opened a new layout file, sent the plan to layout, and it printed fine. I can just make new layouts if I need to, but I would like to figure out the problem. I can't seem to find any differences between the good layout and the bad layout files in any of the settings, hmmm...

Has anybody had a chance to look at this one? I am going to need to print a lot of plans for construction soon and don't want the lines to be so dark and thick. Thanks for any help!

Hello, Lines in my plan views are printing too dark/thick from layout view. Elevations and CAD details are printing fine, but there is something wrong with the line weight in plans views. Other files are printing fine, so I must have accidentally changed a setting in this one drawing/layout file at some point. I know it is probably something easy to fix, but I have been trying for a while now and need help! I am working in X9. Plan and layout files and printed pdf of the layout are attached below. Hi All, I am trying to make a picture to show a customer a display shelf over a closet under a vaulted ceiling. The wall cut-outs appear in the ceiling plane above. How do I hide those wall markings so the ceiling appears as a solid plane without separate cut-outs above each room? I have attached a picture of what I'm talking about along with my plan file. Hi All, I'm having a weird problem. On the attached plan, the garage door and the garage man door are set to dimensions to the inch (no fraction) on the floor plan. On the foundation plan, the concrete cutouts are not centered on the door they are for. Check out the garage doors on the attached plan in the foundation plan. Why are they 1/8" off on the foundation plan from the doors in the floor plan? How do I fix this? I am in X9, but the same thing happened only with this particular file in X8. thanks!! Hi all, I am working on a room where I want the ceiling to show the open steel joist framing for the floor above. I have made the floor above and framed it. I have turned off the check box for ceiling on the room. When I take a camera view of the room, the ceiling just appears to be dark space instead of showing the joists. Any suggestions? I am working in X5. Thanks, Lee

Room dimension labels not rounding consistantly
LeeDrafter replied to LeeDrafter's topic in General Q & A
Thanks for the replies. Still crossing my fingers that this is fixable so I don't have to remember to change the labels manually every time I make a change. I forsee myself missing a lot of corrections, but I suppose I would get used to it after a while. I have attached a better zip file. Thanks! LOTS 112&113 BIGFORK LANDING.zip- 6 replies

Hi All, I am working on townhomes that are exactly the same on both sides. I need the room dimension labels to be the same on my "advertising" plans or people will get confused and wonder why they are different. The actual dimensions are exactly the same, but I don't want to show people all the dimension lines for advertising. As you can see in the attached, both living rooms are actually 13' 10-1/2" X 16' 9-1/2". The room labels are rounding to 16'8" on one side and 16'-9" on the other side. I don't care if it rounds up or down, but I do need it to be the same on both sides. Does anybody know how to fix this? I am working in X5. Thanks! LOTS 112&113 BIGFORK LANDING.zip

Thanks for the quick reply! I actually already knew how to change the angle style, but I never noticed that you can change the angle of the north arrow right there in the dbx, thank you! Seems so obvious now . So now I need to figure out what I need the north arrow angle to be using the bearing info I have for my property lines. That is more of a general question than a Chief Architect question, but if anybody feels like sharing, that would be helpful. Thanks again.
-
Hello, Is it possible to adjust a north arrow angle in order to make the bearing angles correct in a CAD site plan? I usually draw my north arrow first before I draw the rest of my site plan. That way the bearing angles I type in use that north arrow as a reference. Then I highlight everything including the North arrow and rotate it all together until the street is at the bottom or so the plan fits on paper and is easy to read. But, this time I must have accidentally not grabbed the north arrow along with everything else because the bearing labels are wrong. I have tried manually adjusting the north arrow, but my precision is pretty much only to the degree, not minutes or seconds. Does anybody know of a way I can input a bearing angle and the north arrow will adjust to that? I would rather not redraw the plan. I am working in X5. Thanks!
