When I turn on my roof planes, I can only see the first floor roof planes. When I go to the second floor, I can only see the 2nd floor roof planes. What am I missing to be able to see it all at the same time?

Thats exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, Eric.

I've got a house I'm wanting to basically take a couple of feet out of the width, right through the family room/entry. When I used ACAD, there was a "stretch" command that worked really well for stuff like this. You just kinda drew a window around what you wanted to make narrower or wider and then tell it by how much. Is there an easy way to this is CA? The only way I know how to is move every single item on the right 2 feet to the left, which a beating.

I may not have sent the updated plan, Eric. Thank you. Its updated now

Trying to get this gable over the entry. Im sure its a simple click of a button, but I can't figure out what how the heck to do it. Thanks in advance...

Any idea why I can't see my roof plane lines on my floor plan? The layer is turned on, but they are not showing. When I look at any elevation/perspective or any other views, it shows up fine.

Thank you, William

I need a 30x42 paper size. How do I change the size of my current 24x36 layout? Or how do I create a new layout that is 30x24?

Take the two walls and centre them on the one that already shows and they will show up as railings.
Thanks for the reply, Jerry. What 2 walls and which one that "already shows up"?

Thanks for the input guys. I sort of fixed the stairs (although there is still something not right) and now I've somehow created the same problem with the wall on the balcony. The floor plan shows a railing, but the elevation shows a wall. Balli2.plan.zip

Hey Mark,
Jerry Karlovich over here with Korel. You possible know of me since we are in the same area. I know of you. My business model have completely changed so I don't consider us as competitors. I have been using CA since X3 and I have used it for my 3D models. I still do much work in AutoCAD because there are a few issues I have been dealing with in getting my Foundation Layouts the way I want them. I do provide my clients a Slab Foundation Layout for dimension purposes just so the contractors know precisely where the recesses are. I do not provide an Engineered Slab. I won't go into detail here. As far as tracing an AutoCAD drawing, I simply save my AutoCAD "Wall Hardlines" (no dimensions, text or hatching) then Import that into CA as CAD Lines. You could also create a special layer for your imported file so that later you can easily turn off that layer to keep things from getting too confusing. Then simply trace on top of that. Before you do anything, you need to set your preferences and defaults. The "Stock" Preferences and Defaults or more leaning towards homes being built in other markets that do not use Slab Foundations with Brick Ledges. Many of the terms used in CA are different that what we might call them but you'll get use to that.
I would like more Chief users here in the north Texas area so we might be able to collaborate.
Good to see another Texan on Chief.

Hey Jerry. I do think I know you. I believe we've crossed paths a few times in the past. It's good to know another Dallas guy is having success with CA. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it, but it's been good. I feel like I've been in the drafting dark ages for the past decade. Sorry to took me so long to respond. I just saw your post. I guess I need to set up some kind of notifications. Glad you chimed in.

This sounds like a really elementary question, but I've exhausted my search for an answer. If there is already a topic/video/etc, please let me know. I'm trying to figure out how to put in a square footage schedule for the the whole plan. 1st floor AC, 2nd floor AC, garages, porches, balconies, total under roof, etc Is this not something that CA does automatically? Or do I have to somehow manually create it? If its the latter, is there a tutorial or video that would show me how to create it? Something that looks like this...

I am considering downloading CA in the next few days after consuming hours of videos on here. i'm excited to move from AutoCad to CA. I've been designing houses in AutoCad for decades now and have a huge library of "stock"'floor plans that I use a lot. My question is this: can I import my AutoCad drawings into CA and draw over the top of them to easily recreate them? My plan is to go from AutoCad on PC to CA on Mac, fwiw. Thanks in advance.

Hey all. I'm also in Rockwall and a newer user. Would love to meet up.
I am the person Norm refered to earlier in the conversation. Name is Chanda and I live in Rockwall and have been using CA since V9. I am currently running X7 and am very happy with alot of the upgrades. I am also self taught so as mentioned by a couple others I know my old way but may not be the most productive.
I found the Facebook group. Here is the link.
Simple question (I think)

That worked Eric. Thank you. I honestly have no idea what "roof reference layer sets" are. Im sure if/when I learn what they are, it will be life changing. Since I stared using CA a few months ago, I learn some life changing tip almost daily.
