  1. I'm trying to make window numbers with superscript in rich text. I've done this before and not sure why it's not working this time. I go into Microsoft Word, type out the numbers with the superscript, copy and paste into chief rich text but when I go to re-size the fonts it makes the superscripts back to normal size (if that makes sense). I've also tried the Microsoft keyboard shortcut directly in the chief rich text by highlighting the number and pressing ctrl, shift and the plus sign at the same time but that's not working either. Any thoughts on why this isn't working?
  2. Ohhh, I turned "use enhanced lighting" ON and the shadows are working now!! Thanks everyone, I appreciate it
  3. Hi Dermot, it was already turned off. I will contact our computer guy to take a look at the video card.
  4. Hi Dave, thanks for the video. I looked at all the settings and everything has shadows checked off and it's still not turning on in the 3D views (regardless to generic or sun angle). You mentioned the driver on the video card may need to be updated, how do I check if it needs updated?
  5. For the past week the shadows button hasn't been working for me (I'm using X9). I usually just click the "toggle shadows" and it turns on, but nothing is happening on or off. Any ideas of how to fix this?
  6. So basically I have to use X10 for it to work? Do you recommend anything? Should I use a polyline solid or soffit? I was also reading about a "molding polyline" but I don't know what that is.
  7. I am working on a project with a split entry. I have created a pony wall for the basement foundation / framed wall above. The framed wall has stone veneer on it and I would like to have a masonry ledge / cap on it. Looking at other tutorials it looks like there should be a “wall cap” section in the wall specifications, but mine seems to missing. See attached screenshots. Not sure if it is because I am using version X9? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  8. Okay found it in the defaults! Thank you And yes, I'm trying to transfer it back but it's a plan file.
  9. We recently just upgraded our chief architect from X9 to X10 and I have a few questions: Is there any way to save a chief X10 file as an X9 file? Also, working on X10 I can't figure out how to add a background image to the 3D perspectives. On X9 you would go to 3D on the toolbar > 3D view defaults > backdrop > select backdrop... Now on X10 you go to 3D on the toolbar > 3D view defaults and there is no option to select a backdrop. Thanks in advance!
  10. Thanks for the suggestions guys, they helped. Also, for some reason it was creating attic walls within the curved wall.. but on each level. He just turned off generate automatic attic walls for that room. The problem is fixed for now will see how it goes! Thanks
  11. My colleague is working on a project that has a turret stairwell. For some reason the materials are showing through the doors and windows on the curved walls? He tried it on a blank plan to experiment but the same thing is happening.. Does anyone know what causes this? See attached images. Thanks in advance!
  12. Thanks guys (sorry on the delayed response) , my sister Angela figured it out! Appreciate all the help
  13. Thank you all for your help. I have finally figured it out. Instead of downloading from the Teknion website (wouldn't let me pick a year of Sketch up to Download), i went and found it on the 3D Warehouse. Does anyone know how to explode an imported Sketch up file that i brought into Chief Architect? thanks, Angela
  14. Do you know how to download older 2015 version? I can't seem to figure it out for the Teknion furniture. I will take a look at Michael's links tonight, thanks!
  15. I am trying to import sketchup furniture from Teknion. They have a "resources" page where you can download Sketchup models. Once you download the Sketchup model, you can import it into Chief. The first one I tried worked, but now I am getting the attached pop up. Also, is there any way the blocks can be exploded? They seem to be furniture layouts and not single furniture components. Thanks in advanced.
  16. I made a chief plan of an existing cottage layout with different ceiling heights on the main floor. Now I have saved the existing cottage layout to alter the plan but since we will be taking the whole second floor off and starting fresh with new floor joists we are going to make the main floor ceiling one height. So I went ahead and changed this on chief... Now that I've cleared the whole main floor plan so that there are only a few partitions (because it will be open concept) when I try to put a new railing to go to the basement a room divider keeps showing up and it won't let me delete it. I've tried playing around with the railing that goes to the basement. If I delete the railing the room divider disappears, then I re-draw the railing to go to the basement and the room divider shows up again and won't let me delete it. I've attached the file and put some notes in red to try and show what the issues are. Sorry my explanation on here is confusing lol.. Any help would be awesome!! 17. Got it to work! I opened Chief X3 and did file > open plan > and the PL1 file showed up so I clicked on it then did save as > and it saved it as a new X9 file. Thanks Dermot & Ray
  18. I still have Chief X3 on this computer, I will try it out. Thanks Dermot
  19. Should I attach one of the old files? I took a screenshot of all the files that we have from 2005.. Not very organized but this is the new file I made and put everything in with the new X9 file.
  20. Okay, I copied all the old files into a new folder that has a new X9 file in it.. I right clicked on the PL0 file and did open with > and had to find chief X9 and then a dialog box showed in X9 (see attachment)
  21. One of our old clients wants to do an addition on a cottage that we built back in 2005. Back in 2005 the drawings were done on Chief Architect 9.5 and we have the old drawings files saved. The file types are PL0, PL1, PL2, PL3... which I think are the plan files and every floor would be saved as a different file for some reason. There's also file types that are PB0, PB1... as well as LA1, LB1 which i'm guessing are the layout files. I tried to do file > import > import drawing, on the new Chief X9 but none of the files showed up for me to open. Anyone know how to open Chief 9.5 files into new Chief X9?
