I have an odd condition where I have 4 coulmns aligned on a concrete pier and the condition shows correctly in plan view but perspective view the posts are offset a few inches. Any reason this would be happening?

I am on CA but want someone to help with material takeoffs. My understanding is I can export to Home Designer Pro but cannot figure how to accomplish. Also would look for advice on importing and exporting between these to programs. Any good or bad experience from anybody.

Got myself into a bit here. Drawings are done enough to go to pricing however, to improve on the building design I suggested we flip the western half of the plan over a horizontal axis. Living and dining and everything to the right stays the same. Everything to the left of living dining (red line) gets mirrored across horizontal axis so that garage doors and entry porch are at the top. Am wondering about the best strategy to approach. Was thinking about making two copies of the plan and deleting everything on the right in the first, then deleting everything on the right in the second. Then flip the garage portion in the first then combine the two back together. Too complicated?

uh oh Time to learn polysolids. Hopefully something in the video library.

There must be a way to generate these? Anybody have a favorite technique?

Tried that in the Deck room defaults and I keep getting this error message.

As a newbie sometime back I changed my deck defaults to concrete slab. Hadnt learned that a porch was a slab.I want to revert to the original framing defaults but cannot get the edits to stick. Anybody able to take a look and figure out and learn me what I did? Regards, Appleton.zip

OK simple enough. Question is why a post wouldn't show up in wall framing? And how do I get posts to show in materials list? Am still a newbie so have not gotten very far into this yet so apologies if an obvious solution. thanks.

Ok so I put it on Framing, Wall layer Then build framing for selected object but still a no show.

I have placed a post into a basement pony wall and it shows up in plan and 3D but not in the wall detail. I am sure I am missing something simple. Doesn't show up in materials list either.

I have built my trusses and over some roomsthe top plates are raised by 1-1/2". All the room structures are the same so am trying to figure out what would be causing this.

Building a simple shed roof truss and the lower overhang builds correctly but the upper overhang builds the roof projecting past the attic wall. Cannot figure out what setting to correct. Surely I am missing something obvious. The end truss builds incorrectly at the lower end.

Hi Kirk, Thanks for that but after considering I am going to stick with Keeping Data directory on my SSD for performance. I will just plan on managing my archives manually during my regular housekeeping.

Perry, I know how to find them but I want Chief to automatically put them into a different folder on a different drive. I can move them manually but am trying to change the default directory.

It's not plan specific but for all my projects.
