    Hi all,

I work for a home builder here in Vancouver and we are looking to switching to Chief. Anyone in the area using it and willing to share your strategies for options/multiple elevations per plan?

Curious what are you currently using, and why are you interested in Chief if you're looking for software that handles building options and multiple elevations per plan?  Chief is a great 3D modeling program which I find very helpful when trying to help clients with their selections.  But, it is not set up to handle a typical semi-custom or production builder's needs very efficiently.

Also, it appears to be related to having the Layout open. I was able to work efficiently with no Layout file open. As soon as I opened the layout file with tiled windows, frozen (but no Olaf for comic relief).

I was told by support that I needed to pause my OneDrive sync while using Chief… that is what they think is causing chief to freeze up.

    Seems to work so far.

A contractor friend of mine moved to Eagle, ID and wants to do a whole house remodel. I designed for him for 12 years in California using CA but I am retiring. I was hoping to contact a CA design professional in the Boise area on his behalf that may be interested in doing this extensive project. I do believe he intends to continue contracting once he is settled in ID. Please reply here or email mctopcat56@gmail.com

Let me know if I can help your friend get going here.

CA has produced a really good video on getting the framing just right.  Does anyone have others to add for efficient editing to get framing as exact as possible?

Do you have a link to this video?

Speaking of computer specs.... Im still driving around in my Model T Alienware waiting till Black Friday/Cyber Monday for wheels and deals on computers since everyone is saying the prices are bloated right now.  Ive been getting recommendations on several custom pc builders and the first thing I do is call tech support and see how long the wait time is and how the company handles customers.  75% of the places I called have HORRIBLE tech support/ customer service and Id never buy from them.

Does anyone recommend any good places (price and good customer service) to get a pc ($3000 +/- ) desktop for X13?  I still have a few months before upgrading the computer so Im still kicking tires.

I already bought X13 but cant use it because the Model T doesnt run the new stuff.

Costco has a gaming computer for $3k that looks good.
