John_VanKirk
Hi all, Is there any method to attach an architectural object to a door, such as a door knocker, door hook, towel rack, or peep hole, from the library browser or downloaded skp file, so that it will snap to and remain attached to the door, when opened or closed, or the door is viewed in floor plan or 3D view? There doesn't seem to be any door dimension specification that includes other door "items" that will act as an included component of the door, similar to the door handle, or door lock does. I am using Home Designer Pro and specifically trying to add a towel hook to the back of a bathroom door, but nothing seems to "stick". Thanks. Alaskan_Son
Easiest thing to do for your towel hook would be to: 1. Place the hook in a blank plan 2. Create a 3D camera view of the hook 3. Tools>Symbol>Convert to Symbol 4. Symbol Category...Hardware...Check Add To Library and Show Advanced Options 5. Under Options tab check Treat As Lock 6. Name it whatever you want 6. Decide what size door you will be using and how far your knob will be offset from the edge of the door (3" by default) 7. Divide the width of your door in half and subtract the knob offset. For example, a 30" door divided by 2 would be 15". 15" minus the default 3" offset would be 12". 8. Open your new piece of hardware and on the 3D tab, set the origin offset for the X position to be 12" (or whatever number you figured above...assuming you want it centered on the door). 9. Open your actual bathroom door and on the hardware tab, Interior Lock (or Exterior Lock), click "Library" and select the piece of hardware you previously modified. Set the height to whatever you want.

Alaskan_Son
Cool. Good luck. There are a some other possible options. The one I listed above is just the easiest I could think of.
