Railing inside an opening

Well, I tend to go months without having questions and it seems in the past 3 days I am getting several hiccups. I need to add a railing to close off this area below. Those openings are doorways with the trim removed. Besides manually drawing polyline solids is there a way to draw a railing wall without throwing the opening into chaos?

This kind of design can be created by drawing a railing and marking it as No Room Definition.
