thomhu
Client wants a old style monitor in the center of a barn roof. This would be basically a big cupola open to below with windows and not what appears when you look up "monitor" for a barn roof. First floor is 16' tall. Second floor is 8' tall with dormers. Only one drawn for now. Second floor is under attic of 1st floor roof - "ignore second floor" for roof build works. Monitor will be about 6' wide by 10' long on top of ridge. I created a 3rd floor blank design and made the small 6 x 10 room tall enough to project through the roof with room for windows. This added walls on the 3rd floor and raised the entire structure. "ignore 3rd floor" in roof build dialogue box didn't work, so I manually lowered the roof back down 8'. In the wall definition box on the structure tab, I choose balloon through ceiling and balloon/extend through floor but it doesn't cut through either. In camera view just above the 2nd floor ceiling, I can see the walls on top of the second floor ceiling and manually raise them up through the roof and then cut a roof hole and a ceiling hole so the shaft is open to the second floor. This works, but is there an easier way ?
