JDorow
Not sure how people are doing their covered porches (as far as making them a defined room or not). I just make my simple ones using a room. What I am having problems with is the fact that you can see the ceiling finish poking out around the perimeter becuase the suface goes all the way to the outside of the wall. What is the workaround to make this go away and look more realistic?
PitMan71
I have done it a few different ways. 1. You can remove the ceiling in the room dbx and draw a roof plane for your ceiling. 2. I have created invisible pony walls, the bottom of which extends out enough to create my porch edge and the other face pulled back enough to hide that ceiling edge. This can be a pain because while you solve one problem you can create others such as a lot of dashed lines on your porches. 3. I have created it with railing post to beam, but I don't like how it terminates the beam at the ceiling line. I wish there were a more straight-forward way to do this. Seems like us users could settle on a method and let chief engineers look into and create a solution for it. Even if for option 2 with a single invisible wall, just having a room directive in the room dbx to stop the ceiling on the inside edge of the invisible wall which would solve this problem.
