Auto Roof Tools

I am trying to create a gable in the lower roof as pictured. I have tried using the gable/roofline tool to draw the width but it comes in at 2:12. When I select the roof planes and change the pitch it switches off auto roofs and leaves big holes in my existing roof. When I try manually drawing them I'm left with holes as well. I do understand that roofs are generated by the wall settings underneath so I toyed with those as well to no avail. I suspect I'm having trouble because I'm trying to connect to two different roof pitches. I have reviewed any relevant video resources in support and user sections but can't find anything exactly like what I'm attempting. Does anyone have any advice to achieve this?

use the gable line tool, put some other pitch in there and then change it again to 5. its a glitch
