Layout sheet numbering

I know this is been done to death at some level but not finding an answer my specific need (its all about me).

I have been able to get Layout to report sequential page numbers (i.e. A0, A1...etc) and report to the elevation and section callouts. Big win!

But if I want to "interrupt" or insert sheets that dont follow the Macro # on the template sheet, how is this done?

Example:

Title sheet-T1

General notes-T2

Architectural drawings (site plan, floor plans, elevations, sections) -A0 through whatever...

Details - D1...

Civil- C1...

Green Building-GB1...

etc......

Is there a way to handle multiple sheets with different categories? or do I just bite it and enter them all manually?

Im a Revit refugee. I like Chief as it suits what I do better, but some things I miss...

Thanks

You did answer it and it really helped get me going.

However now I need the pages that the macro on sheet "0" to stop deploying.

For example, My sheet macro on sheet "0" is A%page% and this works perfectly until I want the "A" to quit being the page letter, and I now need the sheet to display a "D" for details and start the numbering from 1 again. And I cant figure out how to override the macro to manually insert a new numbering convention.

I hope this is more clear. I may just have to manually insert the sheet numbering convention and forget about the macro?

Thanks again.

I don't think you fully read or understood my post.  Read it again.  The fact you still have A%page% on sheet "0" tells me you missed some crucial information.

Here is my post again with the key points highlighted:

Where exactly are you putting that "A%page%" macro?  I'm assuming that you're putting it on the actual layout page somewhere as a text box.  What you probably should be doing is going to your layout page, clicking the Edit Page Information tool, and then putting "A#" into the Label field.  Then back on page 0 (or on your template page), place the %layout.label% macro where you currently have "A%page%". <<Note:  This means you are no longer using the "A%page%" macro at all.

What you're currently seeing is that Chief with automatically label those camera callout labels using the actual sequential page number unless you have a Layout Page Label specified.  If you specify a label, then it will use that instead.  In the Layout Page Label, you can specify any desired prefix followed by the # symbol and Chief will automatically number any pages with that that same prefix, so if you have 3 pages labeled "A#", they would show as A1, A2, and A3 and you would see the same thing in your callout.  You can use a different prefix on another page for example ("S#") and the numbering will start back at one (S1, S2, S3, etc.).

The key to make this work is to use the %layout.label% macro along with the Page Information Label

Thanks for your clarification on this.

I finally understood how this helps with camera views etc. Before my thinking was  "it is just as easy to manually edit each page sheet". By including the page info is handy down the line.

Thanks again!
