PitMan71
I am a new user and was wanting to get some best practices when putting together a roof plan with multiple pitches. it appears that the roof tools do a really good job until you get into a roof with multiple pitches. The particular roof (8:12) I am working on has multiple gables with a higher pitched one (14/12) in the front. I have tried multiple techniques to get this to work. I have broken the wall up as some training vids show, but the roof still does resolve the way intended. For the higher pitched roof I also want the porch roof to die into the side of it where the dropped eave created by the steeper pitch. I realize that there may be some extra work needed to get the look I want.... With all the variables relating to the roof I just want to make sure I'm adjusting the correct ones. OR in the off chance that there is a better way to accomplish what I am wanting.
JiAngelo
Based on what you've drawn, extend the porch wall temporarily throught the triple window room on the left. Break the ext. walls at the intersection on either side. Turn on automatic roofs with all walls set to desired pitch or gable setting and Chief should build your valley automatically. You can then delete the porch wall bisecting that room.
