creating a custom door/ drawer front

I want to create a custom door/drawer front as seen in the photos below.  However, when I apply it as a new style, as you can see the door swing MOLDING is not "behaving like I want it too.  Advice needed!

Start with a slab door and then add a molding made from a polyline:
