Site plan with buildings models from more than one file

I am looking to have a "Master" file that contains models from 2 or 3 chief files and have them be associative in at least one direction.

Would be OK with a parent/child link where any changes required need to be done in the child file

 

I know I can export the child model and bring it in as a static items into the parent file but that does not create a linked connection

You can do this with the Reference Display for both your Plan View and your Camera Views.  You just have to set the Reference Display to use the desired Plan file.  In X15 Chief expanded this capability to include not only the ability to offset that Referenced Plan in the X, Y, and Z directions but also the ability to skew the angle:
