good point, I'll use that for next time. can't battle them all on the one application. I won on the utility room door, gave up on the radon, and took the approval before he could find fault in the energy calcs (as he thought I was doing prescriptive)

 

But the more I think about the energy calcs, the more I am liking treating the stairwell as having no stairs, and then dividing up the floor to be the upper floor without the stairwell, and then issuing Detail "B" above for compliance with the slab (As you cannot tradeoff slab for ceiling/walls) for the stairwell. And then for the wall using the entire upper storey and stairwell on the lower storey. I'll lose some tradeoff capacity, but at least it will be defendable. ....at least for the normal enclosed stair with no bathroom
