Help with Roof

All,

I am working on a house that the customer wants a vaulted gable roof over the great room. I would like to get this gable roof to span the entire great room if I could, but can't seem to get the roof lines to work. I also don't want a very tall gable wall at the great room. See the below images to what I am talking about. I also attached the plan file for reference.

Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Chris

What's the problem?

The problems is I can't figure out how to get the gable roof to go farther back in the Great Room, so all of the great room has the same vaulted ceiling. It looks like I almost need the ridge elevation of the main roof and great room roof to match. Just looking for another set of eyes basically.

Have you tried a lower pitched framed ceiling over the great room but under the main roof? Will take some testing to see what pitch would work. Also might require a structural ridge on the high main roof over the great room area to carry the load of the main roof rafters. A 2-story great room ceiling with a reverse gable coming out the back and over the rear porch might work also.

I removed the ceiling and the roof planes you used to create the vault cover the entire space.

No I haven't. I always use structural ridges, hence why I think the roof over the great room needs to go back to the front wall of the great room, so I can post it down or connect it to the main ridge. The client wants to have the gable as shown, because they want windows up in the gable end.

I can't figure out why my walls are not meeting the roof.
I run into this a lot and usually finagle walls by puling on their handles etc but changing from gable wall to hip wall etc seems to make no difference in how the wall acts.
I just want them to act like when I first drew them where they just automatically connect with the roof.

I'm having a problem getting a deck to remain when I try to contain it under a roof.  The function of the roofs to the covered deck are to make a covered walkway to the covered deck.  I didn't know where to begin searching for this issue so I'm posting this.

The attached screenshot shows where I'm able to get the roof and deck to look right (4'-1") and where the deck room conflicts with the roof (4'-0").  Ideally, I would make these both 4'-0".  When I try to adjust the deck rail in or out from the back of the house (shown at 4'-0") the deck disappears.

I have attached the .pln file.  Any advise is appreciated.

Ever since I upgraded to X14 I've had an issue where the trim doesn't populate on some of my roofs / roof belts. Has anyone else had this issue? Maybe I should try reinstalling X14? These roofs were copied from the adjacent roof that has the trim and has the same properties. It just makes no sense. I sent a request to support, and they couldn't recreate it at the time.

I'm trying to draw a skirt roof but the fascia is not showing, see screenshot. Any ideas? I just updated to X14 so not sure if this is a glitch? I've never had issues with this in the past using older versions!
