Stair landing and adding railing

What's the trick to adding a railing to a landing? Either it puts it on the basement floor or on the main level. Also, when I add a wall under the steps that follows the steps it wipes out the custom hand railing and vice versa if I do it the other way. Any information would be appreciated! Thanks! Jason

Got it figured out, thanks to another member.

Hey, knew to Chief and trying to create a vaulted ceiling in this room. I "unchecked" ceiling already, have done the ceiling planes and joined them together with a 7/12 pitch, can get them to join up and down but not left to right. The center line of the gable needs to be in the middle of the room. The outside covered deck is vaulted as well with a 7/12 pitch, shows a 6/12 but won't change to a 7. I can upload the plan if needed. What's the best way to accomplish this vault? Thank you very much! Jason

Thanks David! Looking forward to getting the software and chatting with the group on issues! -
Hello, new to Chief and still using the demo but want to create a tray ceiling in the master that follows the outline of the room out 2' from each wall, then stepped up 1' from there. How do I go about doing this? Thank you! Jason

After months of demo use on Chief and Softplan, I'm 99% positive Chief will be the software for my business! I know there's a lot of stuff I don't know yet but will learn in time! Softplan seems like CAD on steroids and IMO is very hard to learn, too many things all over the place and it's a pain in the a--- to use. Jumped right into Chief demo and drew my current house in no time. I have to go with the software I'm comfortable with and the Chief support and forums are awesome! Any users from Softplan come over to Chief? Thanks! Jason

Just saw this, got the roof figured out via help from Chief. Still messing around with the trial version, about to purchase the software and throw ACAD in the garbage. How do you like it? Thanks -

Need Help With Roof Issue And How To Create It.

Ok this is what I have, I tried doing what you told me to do. Frustrating! It needs to look like the pic I've attached. -
Hello, working with the trial version and will be buying the software soon. The auto roofs is a great tool but how do you create the roof in Chief like I did in AutoCAD? The entry roof ties into the gable over the bedroom, the right side of house has a 9' wall, then 1' truss heel raise next to that and the entry has a 2' truss heel raise. I understand how to raise the wall heights but not sure how to do the roofs. See attached. Thanks! Jason

Chief Architect Or Softplan?

Did most of you guys take some training classes or just learn things by spending time with the software? Joey, that's when I should have left ACAD 2004! -
Chief Architect Or Softplan?

I keep hearing that Chief has issues with roofs, stepped foundations, pony and knee walls, floor and ceiling systems, and stairs, course this is coming from a Softplan user. I'm so used to AutoCAD for house plans, any of the 2 is a lot better than that dinosaur software! Do you guys have any issues with what I just listed? -

Hello! New to the forum!! I downloaded the trial and have been playing around with it, also have Softplan trial version. Where any of you in the same boat going back and forth on which one to purchase? From the time I've spent CA seems to be more user friendly! Any input would be appreciated! Thank you! Jason
