  1. room is defined "Closet" Default room bubble on Show Room Label and Show Room Type
  2. room label is on "show room label" under defaults is checked as well...thanks for the input but still searching for an answer
  3. I know I have deleted the room labels but cannot restore them. Not just the garage area but some interior rooms as well. -layer; room, display is checked -tried running "plan check" -tried F12 -Default settings: under Plan, "show living area label" is checked At a loss except having to enter a macro...thanks for the help.
  4. new to CA, finished my first complete house plan. I would like to send 3-D views to layout, 1st attempt using Ray-Trace, (slow) @ 50% or so, final print is very pixelated. thanks, I'm not sure how many passes or width and height...how many passes is usually sufficient? Likely that I stopped the Ray Trace too soon. What is the best method to use in CA or should I just avoid 3D to layouts? I am trying new settings posted by another CA member -15 passes Lighting: unchecked camera view settings -ambient Occlusion min .1 - max 3 -direct sunlight 4 Advanced -checked the use photon mapping only Image properties -contrast 60% we will see how it goes...
  5. sometimes the simplest of solutions makes one seem like a genius...that would be Glenn! thanks, suddenly I feel inferior... Solution toggling off Arc Centers and Ends; in tool bar...thanks again.
  6. CA X8 (these are screen shots): When I import DWG files from my engineer (who is using Revit), (see image of CAD block); or from the CA Simpson Hanger manufacture catalog as a CAD Block, (image of joist hanger), into my CAD details; I get multiple lines, vert. Horz. in what appears to be both the holes in the hangers and fasteners. How do I prevent this from happening? When I delete the hanger from the CAD detail, all lines go away so I know it's part of that detail. I cannot "explode" the CAD detail to isolate the Active Layer Display options...thanks. Only tedious fix I've found is to delete all hangers and fasteners and redraw them with CAD, not a good option as my plan has 36 CAD details.

  8. Thank you Eric...sometimes I wonder how I make it through the day, ha! obvious once you pointed it out.
  9. Thanks for the quick replies...selecting "attic walls" is one-mouse-click; main walls- still get room specification dialog. I can change the "wall types" in the floor plan layers, but this is not efficient...still looking for input...
  10. Good morning, New to CA, X8 (formally using X5). (current working plan imported from X5) RE: finishing up a new modern, 2-story plan with multiple exterior finishes: When in orthographic view, I'm trying to select only one (or group selecting several) wall using "Select Objects" arrow so that i can change exterior materials. CA is selecting the floor (when I "open object") It defaults to "room specification" on a particular level instead of the walls...what am I missing as I would like an efficient method of comparing different exterior wall finishes. I was previously taught "never" to use the spray can on exterior surfaces... thanks,
