I am a remodeling contractor in Tucson, AZ. I currently perform all of my own permit drawings; however, am getting busy so looking to outsource them in Chief Architect. Is anybody looking for work and has worked remotely before?

You're right. It is exactly that. Not quite sure why it's there though. I will stay on the screen until I close and sometimes reappears when I reopen it.
Any thoughts on the dotted line?

Thanks Eric; however, I'm not seeing the icon that I'm getting, nor understanding why dotted line when the wall is moved.

I've been using CA for many years now and recently I started getting two odd items from Chief, that I don't recall seeing before. When I delete a wall, or move it, I get a dotted line underneath where the wall used to be and then get a little "house" icon on my cursor. I've attached a screen shot of it. This only occurs 50% of the time and the majority of those times it will disappear if I close the software and reopen.
Does anybody know what these items are indicating?
Thanks

Assuming I have a current CPU and am not doing any rendering; however, important is RAM and Video Card memory? Would 2 GB video card and 8GB or RAM suffice?

Clicked enter to fast. I edited the post and have my current specs listed.

Hi,
I'm having some issues with the layout taking a while to get to each next page (3-4 seconds each) and changing layer sets (3-4 seconds). I meet the X11 minimum specs and some of the others on the forum. I just upgrade my video card to a Radeo RX 580 8GB, with no resolve. Any suggestions?
System:
Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.4 GHz
16.0 GB RAM
Win 10 64-bit
Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5
150 GB SSD (90 GB available)
Plan size - 21.4 MB
Layout size - 420 KB
Thanks.

On flat roofs with parapets, the new IRC R903.4.1 is now requiring an overflow above the scupper, or roof drains to be installed. A 4" overflow would look pretty odd above a 6" scupper and clay pipe. The roof drain option becomes a little more expensive. What are you guys doing regarding this?
And does anybody have a roof drain detail they'd be willing to share?
Thanks.

The X key worked perfect. Thanks Chopsaw.

I've just switched from X7 to X11. I seem to have lost a very helpful feature in X11. That is, when I select a wall, object, etc, all layers except the associated layers go away (in the Active Layer Display Options). This occurs in X7, but not in X11 (see attached pics). Is this something I have to turn on? Or is there any way to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has an organization style for their Layer Sets that they love. I have some organziation, but it's "clunky" and not as easy to navigate as I like. Currently it is setup by categories with numbers (to keep it in order). Ex.
15 ************DIM FLOOR PLAN ************
15 CAD/TEXT - Floor Plan, Dimensioned
15-Dimensions, Automatic
15-Dimesions, Manual
18************DEMO************
18 CAD/TEXT - Demolition
20************ELEVATIONS************
20-CAD/TEXT - Elevations
20-CAD/TEXT - Sections
etc. etc. etc
Ideally I'd love a way to display only the layers associated with "Floor Plan", so that no others show. Then select "Demolition" and only the associated layers show.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hi,
I've just started using X11 (from X7) and am having issues when sending items to layout. When I tell it to "Send to Layout" with "No Scale" selected, I'm then not able to stretch the view larger or smaller with the corners any longer. When I stretch the corner, it simply moves the line like a polyline. Any suggestions
3D Object Web Sources - Free
in Symbols and Content

I'm looking for a good source for free 3D objects (specifically desert plants and soils, for I'm in AZ). I recall there used to be a website, that I believe was through Google or Sketchup that had 3D objects that were user contributed; however, I can't recall it.
Does anybody know this site, or have reference to others?
Thanks
