  1. I've never really used the revision table before, for most of my jobs do not have that many changes that are significant. I have a project now that the client is on the third set of revisions and all three are substantial. Due to, it's critical that the subs are working off the most recent plan set. How have you seen this process take place so that the subs always know what the most recent set is? Granted the revision table shows three sets of revisions with dates, but that doesn't mean there isn't a fourth set laying around that they haven't downloaded yet.

    Schedules

Is there a way to make the schedule list the items in a specific order? For example, all my walls start with an "N" for new and "E" for existing. I'd like the wall schedule to be organized with all the "E" walls listed first, then the "N" walls. Also, in the CA tutorials, they show to place schedules on a CAD detail and then send to layout. Is there any specific reason for this, rather than simply creating it in the .plan file? When I'm double checking my walls, windows and doors, I find it easier to work with when its sitting next to the floor plan layout.
  4. Didn't think of those either Michael. Thanks
  5. Thanks Eric. That helps a lot. I'll work with that for a few weeks and see how it goes. Thanks for putting the time into this.
  6. I made it as a piece of molding. Are you saying that the molding won't work as casing?
  7. An example of a custom layer is I'm currently doing a house that has some custom pop-outs in the stucco, so I've placed them on their own layer. The largest issue is simply navigating the list. Honestly, just looking for another method to organize them.
  8. Yes, that is exactly the bullnose corners I'm looking for. How did you do it? I actually found a solution to the door swing. In the Door Schedule, there is an option for which side of the door the hinge is on.
  9. I'm looking for a different method to name and organize my layers. The default method that comes with Chief is a little cumbersome because I have to remember the first word to find what I'm looking for. This is even more difficult when I create a custom layer for a project. I realize I can use the filter, but when you're changing the layer of an actual object, there is no filter. Anybody have a system they are using that they like? Or is there something I don't know about chief that will simplify this?
  10. I am trying to customize some interior doors with 3/4" bull nosed edges for casing and then I'd like the label to indicate the swing direction of the door. I've been able to create the bull nosed casing; however, it does not sit flush with the outside wall. Regarding the door swing label, I was not able to find a default macro for it. How do I make the casing sit back flush with the drywall edge? Any suggestions on the door swing label? Custom macro of some kind? Thanks
  11. Parkwest, I'll check it out. Glenn, I've been looking for some 3D versions and will try your suggestion. I think the main think I'm having difficulty with is the dirt and trying to make it look like the real dirt in a picture. For that matter, I have that issue with a lot of items. For ex., for my projects using slump block, I have a Texture image of slump block that I have made white. I can then use that image and blend the texture with a color. My theory was then I could make whatever color of block I'd like. The issue I have, is I can never make it look like a photo. I've even tried sampling the block in an actual photo and applying that. The end result is WAY off from the color in the photo. Any suggestions on improving the accuracy of this?
  12. Yep, those too. I have a collection of dessert vegetation that is pretty realistic. The problem is I can't get the whole landscape looking realistic. Any suggestion are appreciated.
  13. I live in Tucson, AZ and I'm trying to create a natural landscape for Tucson. Palo Verde trees, Mesquite Trees, paddle cactus, saguaros, natural bushes, etc. I've attached some photos of what it looks like, then also attached a photo of my best shot at "Tritchel Landscape". Still I don't think it looks very close. Any help on doing this would be appreciated. Tritchel Landscape.pdf
  14. Thanks Joes. Do you do all your revisions clouds on the .layout page as opposed to the .plan file?
  15. I think that's going to work well. Thanks
  16. Is there a way to change the reach of temporary dimensions. It keeps grabbing items that are 2" away and makes it cumbersome for me to adjust components.
  17. I have a set of drawings that the client has created a ton of changes, so I have a ton of bubbles. I'd like to create a note schedule to describe the changes. Ideally, I can have a separate Schedule for each page (floor plan, electrical, plumbing, etc.) and can use the triangle for all changes. The issue I'm running into is that I create the notes on the floor plan, when I goto the next page, the numbers continue in sequence and the second legend shows the notes from the first. What is the best way to accomplish this?
  18. Thanks Dan, but I tried this. There is always a shadow on one of the walls when I pan around. I tried one of the files you and download from Chief, "Breckenridge" and it is doing the same thing, just not as obvious due to the colors. There has got to be a way to turn these shadows off completely. Any other thoughts?
  19. Turning the sun off only made it darker (see below) and the shadows are already turned off. Any other thoughts?
  20. I'm trying to send some perspective views to a client and I can't figure out how to turn off whatever lighting is causing the exact same color on two walls to appear different. Below is a screen shot with "Sun Follows Camer" turned on. The two sides of the garage are the exact some color; however, do not look that way. Thanks for any thoughts.
  21. Here is a screenshot of one I'm working on. I'm trying to label all the recipe and lighting per the circuit number of the panel. As you can see, they are not all consistent for I manually move them around in place and it's very tedious. Wondering if there is easier method.
  22. I'm not following Rene. I'm assuming the new CAD symbol has the circuit number embedded in it. How do I change the circuit number without having to change the symbol?
  23. Does anybody have a suggestion as to simplifying the process of applying circuit numbers on the electrical plan? Currently, I create number in a small font and copy/paste to all the recepts and fixtures. This is pretty quick; however, making the numbers look neat, aligned, and consistent then takes a lot of time. Suggestions?
  24. When I Open Object on the tree (or Symbol), I'm not getting this option. Attached is a screenshot of my options, and the actual file. Am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks Palo Verde Tree1.skp
