  1. Bill, you devil

Dang right, Ron has been beating this topic for a long time, and I'm on the bandwagon....  Geez,  how hard can it be for the gurus at CA to fix the framing issue.... Maybe I'm missing something... JUST DO IT!!!

  2. Bonnet = Hood

    Boot = Trunk

    Screen = Wind Shield

A 1964 Ford Cortina imported from England (steering wheel relocated for us Americans) sits in my back yard....  GD the tax office, they have this piece of junk valued at $8,000 dollars... Killing me...  From what I gather the 'Aussies' really like these cars...  Any takers... :D

  3. I can't turn off "undo", I really need it, sometimes I just go to fast and delete the wrong thing.

An SSD will speed up the lag time associated with the 'saving' of the 'undo' steps.  It won't necessarily help that much when you need to actually use it...  With 'undo' on I noticed a lag time of around two to three seconds with a conventional hard drive using X6, with a large file when doing almost anything, with an SSD it is less than a second....

    Worth the upgrade!!!

  4. Yes it does refresh the materials list, say you change a wall, that changes the materials list, come on, really. F12 reframes walls floor and ceilings and that changes the materials list. By the way---not crazy, my analyst told me so.

Agreed...  And I never use the material list either...  And I'm not crazy either, even though my wife thinks so...

  5. I think I am going to install an SSD drive, that will really speed things up for me.

SSD is the way to go...  Eliminated a lot a lag time for me on everything.  However, Undo is still slow...  Doug stated 'Undo' needs a rework in a previous post.  Maybe they will get around to one day.....

  6. Thanks Joe, I just think Doors, Schedules, Slabs, and Stairs are sadly lacking in chief. They don't seem to have the time or don't get it. I think the problem is the difference between software architects and architects.

Yep, those despicable 'pocket doors' especially....

  7. looks to me like your garage floor height could be at "0" when it should be "-?" a minus number. If it is, try hitting F12. Check your floor heights in each room or you can post the plan to find out exactly what's wrong. I always draw my walls 1st and second then adjust floor

heights, working from the top down, using floor defaults DBX or set these up before drawing them.

'Working from the top down'...  I'm thinking this may be 'key' to getting everything right...  Not sure why, but this method seems to work better for me, especially when there are multiple rooms above a lower space...  I can't pin it down and feel like "HumbleChief"  sometimes... I've been using CA since 1998 and tend to agree that the structure dbx is indeed infested by demons... ;)

Maybe you can elaborate on this Perry...

    Scott, watched your video, nice...

BTW, his handle is 'sranwrap' not 'saranwrap'  :P Not sure he wants to be associated with a plastic wrap product!!!

  8. BTW, Perry has a good option that is not necessarily a 'work around', just another way of using CA.  divider walls normally go to the 'invisible walls layer'...

Case in point , I may want to show them, but not the invisible walls layer, hence another layer needs to be created.. , a matter resolved in seconds...

Keep in mind that all posts can lead to inspiration and solutions...

    Thanks Perry!

  9. If you turn off the "connect island rooms" and delete the room divider, you will get a "living area" in the middle of your plan and you will also get a very strange exterior room.

This is why you should not turn it off.

You are correct, (just trying to explain how the option works)...

And commendations on your answer! However I still leave it 'off' with a lot of the other auto stuff...  I know how it works, don't bother me!

It does indeed screw you sq. footage if you have an island room unconnected...It shows the island room sq. footage and adds that to the total!

Maybe CA should rethink "island rooms" and how they work or don't., and the options...

    Again, Thanks!

    Bill

    .

  10. Bill- Really? That IS odd! See the attached image of the selection unchecked, saved, closed and reopened and still displaying.

Drawzilla- I considered the layer isolation and will do that if it's the only option but I really do hate workarounds....

Once you turn it off, you have to delete the wall, it will not regenerate.  Here's your plan without it...

  11. Hmmm...ok.

We don't have any issues with any of our other programs, but if you insist...

I have beat this bandwagon before (it was along time ago), all other programs work fine.... except CA.  Logic would dictate that CA is the problem if all other programs perform flawlessly...

"Burn" tech support's ears, they are there to help you!

Anyway, Doug's suggestion of running 'disconnected' from your network, router, seems like a good idea...

I'm guessing your IT Guy is like mine... Me, myself, and I...

Your patience in this matter is something I admire!  Best of Luck!

  12. Get a PC, I don't have only problems. Itg's either the lack of rain or your MAC.

A good point! Rolling along with a new PC and no problems....

    'Mac' is 'Crap'!

The recent release of iOS 7 for cell phones is a complete failure!

Apple is fast becoming a 'rotten' fruit...

However; Scott I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors, you have helped me on countless occasions!!!!

Thanks again for all the help!

  13. There are a lot of new "handles" out there with the implementation of this 'new' forum.  Please be kind and provide a 'signature' that identifies who you are. Just a name or something that would help identify who you were on the previous forum. I hate the fact that I can't recognize some of  you long time users...

Some are evident like DRAWZILLA (very unique Perry!)...  Others not,  like mine...

Also what version of CA you are using, your computer specs, etc, would be helpful in constructing meaningful replies to questions asked....

  14. Thanks Kenoeightspot, another tidbit I didn't know existed in the Preferences dbx....

Dang these new handles, OK Guys, Gals, how about adding a signature so I'll know your real name... What version of CA you are using and your computer specs....  very helpful in constructing meaningful replies.....
