Does your cabinet showroom ever become the bottleneck?
Ordoworx replied to Ordoworx's topic in Offering Services
Appreciate the honesty — and completely agree. We’re not here to take anyone’s job. Quite the opposite. We’re happy doing the boring, repetitive production drafting and documentation in the background while you get on with the more exciting work of designing, building, and dealing with the client. Would genuinely love the opportunity to be part of a project you’re involved in someday and show you just how useful a good production wingman can be. All the best to you as well! -
Thank you to everyone who shared their questions and concerns. I hope the information provided has helped address your initial queries. Based on the responses we received, the most common challenges appear to involve plan-check correction cycles and fire-department permit or review requirements. These issues can become time-consuming when multiple departments, consultants, and utility agencies must be coordinated. We hope to be of further assistance. In addition to projects in El Dorado County, where certain permit services may require in-person coordination, we can assist with projects in Sacramento City, Sacramento County, Roseville, and San Luis Obispo. Our team can support the preparation and coordination of project documentation and help guide the project through the applicable building, fire, public-works, and utility-department processes. Thank you again for participating in this exercise and sharing your experiences. For formal project assistance, please visit our website or contact us directly: Ordoworx +1 (279) 277-4427 projects@ordoworx.com ordoworx.com Permit and drawing coordination without the chaos.

Looking for assistance completing a front porch project
Ordoworx replied to SueMyersCda's topic in Seeking Services
Hi Sue, We work in Chief Architect and may be able to help complete the front porch project from your AI image or rendering. To understand the scope properly, could you share the current Chief Architect plan file, the reference image, and any available dimensions or site photos? We can then review what is already modeled, identify what needs to be added or corrected, and confirm the expected turnaround. We can assist with the porch layout, roof connection, columns, stairs, railings, elevations, and the related drawing updates. Final structural design and permit requirements would still need to be confirmed by the appropriate local professional where required. Feel free to send me a private message with the files. Hi everyone, One thing I've noticed while working with residential projects is that many cabinet studios and interior teams don't struggle with selling projects—they struggle with turning those sales into clear production documentation. Sales increase. Design revisions increase. Production falls behind. Installers start asking questions. Site changes begin. That's where we fit in. We work as a backend production support team, helping with projects that need extra drafting capacity or clearer documentation. We can assist with: Kitchen layouts Custom cabinetry Wardrobes and closets Bathroom vanities Laundry rooms Built-in furniture Entertainment units Technical drawing sheets Plans, elevations and sections 3D views for client review Production and installer-ready drawing packages We primarily work in Chief Architect, but we're happy to work from PDFs, sketches, photos, measurements or existing plans. Our goal isn't to redesign your project, but to save you time by producing organized drawing packages that are easier for clients, cabinetmakers and installers to understand. The portfolio outlines our production workflow, from project intake through coordinated drawing packages and quality checks. Whether you have: one kitchen that needs documenting, a showroom that's getting busy, overflow work, or ongoing production requirements, If you're looking for an extra production resource—whether for a single kitchen or ongoing overflow work—I'd be happy to discuss how we can fit into your workflow. Late-night thought after reviewing a few residential projects: Many owner-builders do not face their biggest problems while preparing the drawings. The problems often appear afterward, when the permit package reaches the county or when an overlooked prerequisite stops the application from moving forward. Common issues include: County-specific permit requirements Incomplete site or plot-plan information Engineering and consultant coordination Water-service availability or connection approval Sewer, septic, power and other utility prerequisites Driveway or access permits Impact fees and unexpected development costs Wildfire, flood or terrain-related requirements Permit corrections and costly redesigns In some areas, a building-permit application may depend on prior confirmation from a water district, utility provider, local board or other authority. These approvals can sometimes take much longer than expected, while the owner continues paying rent, loan instalments, taxes and holding costs. We are currently refining a structured permit-coordination and drawing-review workflow for owner-builders. As an introductory exercise, we are offering a limited number of complimentary preliminary evaluations. The review may include: Basic project and jurisdiction identification Review of the current drawing set Identification of obvious missing information Utility and agency prerequisites that may need confirmation Permit-package readiness observations A short list of recommended next actions This is a preliminary coordination review only. It does not replace the work of a licensed architect, engineer, surveyor, contractor, energy consultant or code official, and it does not guarantee permit approval. If you are an owner-builder and already have a property address, parcel information and a drawing set, feel free to reply here or send a private message. I would also be interested to hear from others: What has been the biggest obstacle on your projects—drawings, utilities, engineering, county requirements, fees or something else

People of ChiefTalk, lend me thy ears—preferably before someone saves another file as FINAL_v6_REALLY_FINAL.plan. You already know the usual story. The client moved a wall after the elevations were finished. The engineer revised one detail but not the sheet everyone is referencing. Plan-check comments are split between email, handwritten markups and a PDF called “latest.” The cabinetry dimensions no longer match the architectural set. And somebody, somewhere, is still confidently working from last Tuesday’s version. That is where Ordoworx comes in. We support owners, builders and design teams with: Chief Architect drawing-production support Permit-set organization and readiness review New residences, ADUs, additions and remodels Cabinetry and interior documentation Manufactured-home and consultant coordination Redline, revision and plan-check comment tracking Cleaning up the project record before everyone creates another “current” version The attached portfolio offers a general look at our work. Additional anonymized samples are available for relevant project types. Ordoworx provides coordination and documentation support. We do not replace licensed architects, engineers, contractors or permit authorities. In other words: “Someone else is handling it” is not a coordination system, and “we’ll sort it out during construction” is rarely the cost-saving strategy people imagine it to be.
