  1. When creating my layout file from my default layout template I always have to add the custom schedules I have created. Even when I update my default layout template and leave the box unchecked next to the option to delete all CAD details (I create my schedules in their own CAD detail) they are not present on the layout page. In order to get all of my schedules in I have resorted to going back to my most recent project and copying and pasting the custom schedule from that plan file into my new projects plan file. I have a feeling that this isn't best practice. Is there a way that I am overlooking to save the custom schedule and add it to the drop down list of schedules in the tools menu?
  2. Thanks Mark that definitely worked. But how did you find that measurement if I may ask?
  3. I think that I have tried everything other than the correct way to get this ridge line to match up to create 2 roof planes instead of 4. The lower roof is 2:12 while the upper is 4:12. The wall with the lean to roof off of it (top of plan) is taller than the opposing wall. I tried lowering the ceiling to try to match the opposing eve with no luck. I have achieved this before but can't for the life of me remember how. Thanks for any help. Waters.plan.zip
  4. Can anyone tell me why these lower fascia are not generating. I have them turned on in the DBX.Staples.plan.zip
  5. Thanks for the reply. I figured out that it was because I had flat ceiling over this room checked in the room specifications DBX.
  6. I would like to generate what I have always referred to as a gable wall underneath a front porch with no ceiling. I'm pretty sure that chief refers to this type of wall as an attic wall because I have one of those right in front of this wall. I tried using wall breaks on the main wall at the roof valleys to try and isolate that section and edit it but that didn't seem to work for me. How do I get this wall (highlighted in red in the image) to generate?
  7. I just went through the same thing as you a couple of months ago switching from PC to Mac. If I understand your dilemma correctly, you only need to copy those individual files to your Mac. For instance, in my default layout template I have a company logo png. Every time I opened that layout file chief would warn me that the logo png was missing. I copied the file to my Mac and then the next time that I opened that layout file chief gave me the option to replace that "missing" file with the one that I copied over. Other than that, your Mac can read and edit any plan or layout files that were created on the PC.
  8. I knew it had to be something simple. I was looking for a lock option and don't know why that wasn't my first thought. Thanks guys.
  9. I just started a new plan and I am unable to select rooms in order to edit them. I've never run into this and I'm sure I'm being a bone head in some way and it is a simple setting I'm unaware of. What could this possibly be?Price.plan.zip
  10. I'd like to make the giant black text fit inside the callout symbol circle. I know where to change the size of the circle but can't seem to find where to make the G01, G02 etc small enough to fit inside.
  11. So I followed your advice to the Tea For some reason the numbers were different, but easy enough to draw my own lines, jot down the length, and make the move. I still couldn't quite line it up for some reason though. Then I thought, since a common point is needed anyway why not just try selecting all of the leftover bits and using point to point move which I was trying before but it was the layers you mentioned before that weren't playing nice. So turn those off and I got an easy move. I lost electrical connections and most of my layout boxes but that's the price I pay for being new. Lesson learned: If you have to move your model (which I don't think you really should) turn all layers on first.
  12. I'm freaking out a bit because I've been working on this plan for a while....as you know because you have helped me several times. Could you post the plan file that you did that in? I have been trying all morning to right my wrongs with my backups and fear I have made it worse. Will the file that you fixed also make everything in my layout file the same as it was. Thx so much TeaTime
  13. Yes lesson learned. What's more is that I rotated it 180 degrees from its original position. As I try to fix my mistake by lining everything back up the program won't allow me to rotate it back when attempting to select all objects at once. I am reduced to waiting patiently for some CA wisdom.
  14. I was attempting my first plot plan. I started by importing an image of the site then scaled it accordingly. The problem arose when I attempted to drag my entire onto the image where the build site is. I am assuming that my mistake was not turning on ALL layers so I left a lot behind. This was done last night so an archive was created of my entire days work along with my screwup. I do have an archive from the day before so I guess the worst thing that can happen is I lose an entire days worth of work but is there a way to easily salvage this so that I don't lose that work? Obviously it has affected all pages my layout file as well. Hoping someone tells me it's a simple fix. ThxBouknight_rev2.plan.zip
  15. Rene and Rob Thx. That was it obviously, and I have no idea how I would have figured that one out. And Thx for the tip with the door Steve!
  16. I have an interior wall elevation (Tile, Bath 1) in my Cross Sections folder that I need to work on that uses a custom layer set (Tile and Backsplash Layer Set). I can't seem to get the shower pan to show itself not matter what I do. -The layer that the shower pan is on is the 'Fixtures, Interior' layer and I have verified that the box for that layer is checked. -Tried displaying ALL layers. -I have tried pulling my elevation camera all the way through the opposing wall. -Even tried opening and closing shower door. -And finally of course opening and closing the program. Bouknight_rev2.plan.zip Thx for any help!
  17. Figured the attic wall part out. I had "flat ceiling over this room" checked in the Room Specifications.
  18. Worked like a charm Scott! Thanks! In the future I'll have to explore the "edit wall layer intersections" tool you mentioned. Any idea why I can't seem to generate that attic wall under the carport area? I know my wall heights at this intersection are wonky, but if I could just get that attic wall to generate I think that I can live with it for now.
  19. What is happening here with my corners and attic wall here? I thought that it may have been my wall types but I tried a few different combinations to no avail. Also tried a few different ceiling settings for the porches and carport.Bouknight_rev2.plan.zip
  20. I love you ValleyGuy! The I created this SPV I copied it from one that the manual dimensioning was already set from. I guess I assumed that it would copy those defaults over. Seems like best practice is to go through and verify such things as you are essentially building your template for next time. Thanks again friend!
  21. Can someone tell me what setting I am overlooking here? I am attempting to pull a running dimension on the posts in this plan in the "Post Layout" SPV. I can do so in other plan views but not this one. I'm sure it is something simple that alludes me.Bouknight_rev2.plan.zip
  22. Great info ValleyGuy! The way you have different colors for the dimensions make it a lot easier to read. Thanks for the tips! And Time Time, what a "duh" moment for me. I should have known that at that point that the answer was ALDO dbx. Thanks for all of the help guys! I can't wait to get the hang of this software to a point that I can help others.
  23. So after making the changes that you suggested I returned to the 2 plan views. I created a dimension in Post Layout view, checked Foundation view and success! It did not show up there. However when trying the same thing in Dimension plan view it showed up on Post Layout View. I will be so relieved to get a handle on how this functions.Bouknight_rev2.plan.zip
  24. This is a tricky one for me to explain but I'll try my best. I have 2 plan view. The 2nd is a modified copy of the first (Foundation Plan View) in order to make a completely separate viewport for my layout file. I created new defaults for everything in the my Foundation Plan View. Then did the same for my new Post Layout View When I delete or create a new dimension on one of the 2 plan views it mirrors the change on the other. What am I missing? What else do I need to do to get these two SPVs to act independently?Bouknight_rev2.plan.zip
