Can someone tell me where my OSB ceiling is coming from?
bdillard1 replied to bdillard1's topic in General Q & A
Kbird1 - thanks so much that has been driving me crazy - it never occurred to me that was the issue. I know I put 1 (not all of them) in and yet never saw it. I'll be tripping over it every night on the way to bed now that I know it is sticking up there! I thought for sure it would show in my cross section view. It seemed like I had everything showing except that and I couldn't figure out why for so long. Thanks again! Chopsaw, please don't think I didn't appreciate the advice as well. And of course Charles, thanks for being so quick with the solution! I'll work on it in the morning and start a new thread if I have a problem but I really do appreciate everyone's help! I promise not to gush as much next time but this is huge for me. -
Can someone tell me where my OSB ceiling is coming from?

Thanks everyone - I thought that would be on the other side of the trusses - I'll check that out right away. -
I'd love to see the trusses I need to put in but for some reason I see what I'm guessing is a ceiling below the floor truss area over the basement? Can you tell me where that is specified? I'd like to remove it. I realize there are many things to fix - right now I'd like to fix this item, please. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AonCBRorVv74rBCp6bZ_YzT6FOFL?e=ZiT8SY

How do I select all rooms on a floor to adjust their floor?
bdillard1 replied to bdillard1's topic in General Q & A
Thanks - that is correct - once I selected them all using the marquee and set them to the same the greyed out option went away. I have many things to fix in it so my drawing is constantly changing - often when I fix one thing, another is thrown out of balance. If anyone has any helpful suggestions about correcting issues with the foundation I would appreciate it. While there are many things wrong with my plan, I tend to work best when I focus on one objective at a time. -
How do I select all rooms on a floor to adjust their floor?
bdillard1 replied to bdillard1's topic in General Q & A
Sure - I am trying to figure out how to adjust the basement depth and add floor trusses over the basement. I selected the default settings, floors & rooms, floor levels, 1st floor, structure - floor was greyed out. Yet if I selected different rooms they had different floor levels until I got the tip about the marquees. I'm not an engineer or architect so while I don't expect to build from this I'd like to get some of the contruction figured out in the ballpark so I can figure out some details. I'm hoping to get some help with posts like Greg and Solver's as I do much much better with visual support. I can learn a lot provided I get helpful tips like those with the pictures. 1. I would like under the 4" cement flooring, 10 mil poly, 2 x 2" rigid insulation (no idea if 10" of crushed stone under the insulation is in the diagram/CA or not) - not sure if it is right in my project) 2. My ceiling / floor above will have a 14" 4x3 wooden truss - split about halfway so each half about 18' long. 3. I figure it will require about a 12" mid section beam (not sure how wide that would be - 6"?) and steel columns with cement beneath about 8' apart. I would like the lowest point of construction over the basement to still give me 8.5' to 9' of clearance - my guess that is the mid section beam but again I'm no architect. 4. I'd like to be able to see the truss from the basement level - when I look up I'd like to see the OSB that is above the truss for the subfloor of the 1st floor. I'm not sure if it matters but for the basement walls I couldn't find dimple mat so I duplicated some material and called it that. I have closed cell insulation on the inside. This is initially going to be an unfinished basement. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AonCBRorVv74rBCp6bZ_YzT6FOFL?e=z7nexm While some might be inclined to say I just need to hire an architect, I'd like to learn some of the basics before I see an architect as I'm bound to make 1000 changes to this before I'm even remotely ready to see a professional and then start the process again. -

How do I select all rooms on a floor to adjust their floor?
bdillard1 replied to bdillard1's topic in General Q & A
Thanks - it seems correct in defaults - or at least the value I want to change is right but grayed out. However if I go to a room and look at the room specification when I go to structure it has the wrong value. I can't figure out how to do the marquee all. I tried this video but it still seems to select tables, chairs, appliances etc. -
Hello, Once a floor is divided into rooms, how do you select all rooms, closets etc if you want to modify something about the floor construction? In my current view it selects just one room at a time. I can hold ctrl and select multiple rooms but I'd like to just select all rooms if possible without clicking on each little room or closet. Thanks

Please help me fix my basement's floor/ceiling/walls construction
bdillard1 replied to bdillard1's topic in General Q & A
I think that was a help even though I'm far from getting it right. Part of my issue is I seem to have put osb in the drawing that covers the truss but I'm doing the wrong thing to remove it as rooms seem to drop if I do. I'd like to look up in the basement and see the wooden truss and there should be osb above the truss, not below it. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AonCBRorVv74rBCp6bZ_YzT6FOFL?e=z7nexm -

Please help me fix my basement's floor/ceiling/walls construction
bdillard1 replied to bdillard1's topic in General Q & A
I appreciate the help. I just finished watching. I learned a few things but I wasn't able to figure out from it the answers to my questions - I need it much slower I'm afraid this went a bit fast. I understand I may have asked too many questions. Should I break my question into a few posts -e.g. 1 - is my basement subfloor construction correct according the specs I've stated? Maybe it would help if I started with the first thing that eludes me - how do I add a wood truss of 14" 4"x3" 18' long. I couldn't figure out where to set the height from the floor or the height of the truss. -

Thanks - I'll watch it right now - I think I looked at 5 basement videos but this was not one of them. -
Hello, I am trying to figure some basic construction in X13. I'm sure this is obvious to many but I'm not there yet. I'd really like to know how to do it right. I have many things to fix in my unfinished house but I'd like to start with the foundation. We don't have to fix everything but if you tell me how to fix one thing (besides the stairs) on the foundation construction, I can make note of how to fix them and eventually fix the next floor once enough are solved. If necessary - I have no problem wiping out the basement and starting again. (No idea how to set the dimentions or height on trusses). 3. I figure it will require about a 12" mid section beam (not sure how wide that would be - 6"?) and steel columns with cement beneath. I would like the lowest point of construction over the basement to still give me 8.5' to 9' of clearance - my guess that is the mid section beam but I'm no architect. I'm not sure if it matters but for the basement walls I couldn't find dimple mat so I duplicated some material and called it that. I have closed cell insulation on the inside. This is initially going to be an unfinished basement. I realize this is a lot to ask so if you can pick off anything easily on this list I would appreciate it. I'd really like to learn some of the basics so if you could say go here - adjust this to fix that it would be very helpful, I'd prefer to learn to fish than get a fish but anything either way is appreciated. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AonCBRorVv74rA4Z81iexL8amkNz?e=JXkxqV Thank you in advance!
