  1. I have too many dimensions on one layer and I would like to break them down to other dimension layer. How do I change the default layer that CA uses when I, for example, do a point-to-point measurement? Thank you.
  2. Chopsaw, not the answer I was hoping for but thanks for replying.
  3. It would be very helpful if I could display and configure the layout of 4x8 sheets of underlay to minimize seams in high traffic areas. I can't find this function in defaults under Framing or Floors and I couldn't find an answer in the Reference Manual either. Is this possible? If so, how is it done? Thanks in advance.
  4. @solver Thanks again. I'm not trying to assign the label to a different layer, I'm trying to change the color of the text from grey to red (it appears grey all the time, not just because it's selected). In any event, would you mind briefly explaining how you were able to change the color of the objects in your example above? I have tried many times and cannot do the same. I understand your objects were all in the same layer, but when I change the defaults it changes the colors of all the objects rather than only those placed subsequently.
  5. @solver I took a screenshot. I don't understand why the label "single pole" is grey not red.
  6. @solver: your red/blue example is spot on. Is this all on the same layer? Were you able to add some electrical objects set to one default color, then switch the default color for subsequent objects without changing the color of the existing objects?
  7. I'm making progress on having circuits appear in different colors but I've hit a snag. If I understand correctly, the Electrical layer set has three layers: Electrical, Electrical Connections, and Electrical Labels. I created a new layer set ("Electrical new and old") which contains existing wiring and I'm now trying to add the new electrical. I created a copy of the three layer sets listed above and changed the color so that new objects would appear differently (under the Active Layer Display Options tab). I did this thinking that the new objects would be on a new layer with a new color. However, the new objects keep the old color - I can't seem to change the default settings for the new objects. If I place a new object, I can double click on it's properties and assign the new color but the objects always default to the old color. And when I change the default settings to the new color, then ALL the electrical objects change to the new color, new and old. Reviewing the videos and manuals hasn't helped so far. Any advice is appreciated.
  8. @Design20 Thanks for the input. Teleporting has never been a problem for me using the thumbstick on the Q1 or Q2. It's true that the 2060 is more powerful but both our GPUs meet min specs for this application as far as I know which is why it would be helpful to hear from anyone who has achieved fluid motion to compare notes and do some troubleshooting.
  9. I have now tested this with a desktop and I'm still getting jittery / choppy / shaky motion (PCVR: Intel Core i7-9700K/1TB SSD/16GB RAM/RTX 2060/Win 10; Oculus Quest 2 via datalink cable). I see others have had this problem as well. Is it possible to achieve smooth motion with CA's VR? If so, it would be helpful to know under what conditions smooth motion was achieved (ie CA version, OS version, CPU, GPU, RAM and brand/model of headset). FWIW, the jittery motion was less bad with the 2060 vs the 1650 but still too pronounced to use. Thanks.
  10. Data point: I managed to get a Quest to work with a PC running CA 12 via a Link cable. But the result was way too choppy to use. I'm running a new laptop with an i7-10th gen, 16gb RAM, NVidia Geforce GTX 1650 (and Intel UHD integrated card). The PC passed the SteamVR performance test, landing right on the yellow-green border between "capable" and "recommended." The PC also meets or exceeds min requirements for both AC and for Oculus Quest and Rift S. I made sure to install all Windows updates, to update the graphics drivers and to tweak settings so the GTX was doing the heavy lifting with anything VR related. I wasn't using an Oculus brand cable but I tried two new cables that both came well recommended. Oh, and I shut off all the lighting/shadowing/reflection options in CA. Any advice?
  11. @BelmontArchitect, did you get your Rift to work? I'm having a similar problem with a Quest headset. The Quest is not officially supported but it's not listed as incompatible either. Thanks.
  12. Thanks to @dermot, @chopsaw and @rgardner -- this is a great place to start. If I find any other info that would be useful I'll add to this thread.
  13. Hi Ryan, thanks for the prompt reply. Prior to posting I ran various searches (on this site and via Google) but nothing on my particular topic came up. Do you happen to recall who posted, or when, or any particular words used in the thread title? Thanks.
  14. Hi. Is it possible to differentiate between various electrical circuits (different colors for example) and how the wire for each circuit is strung? I'd like to create a wiring diagram showing, for example, that Circuit 1 enters the room at Plug A, then travels to Plug B, then branches off to Plug C and to Fixture A, etc. This would be particularly useful if each circuit can be drawn in a different color. This would be with X12. Thanks.
