  2. Please see pic. I am trying to make a vaulted ceiling of pitch 4/12 on a deck. But I notice ceiling plane doesn't work with rooms outside of the house...but only with those inside. Any suggestion how to solve this?
  3. Please see pic. This is the cross section of a house with a walkout basement. The front of the basement is just 2x6 siding wall resting on 4ft concrete wall buried below grade. How do I make the 4ft concrete wall under the basement front wall in Chief, given that I am already on floor 0???
  4. Just thought of sharing this. Chief works fine with remote desktop after the steps below are done. On the host computer (the computer being remotely accessed), do the steps below. Open up the Group Policy Editor with Administrator rights From the Control Panel; or By typing gpedit.msc in the Start menu or Run box (Win+R) Browse to: Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Remote Session Environment Find the item “Use the hardware default graphics adapter for all Remote Desktop Services sessions” and enable it. Find the item “Use WDDM graphics display driver for Remote Desktop Connections” and disable it. Restart the computer
  5. Thanks everyone for the replies. Here it is common to find houses with basement and a side entry for the tenant. Hence why the stairs is placed against the exterior wall.
  6. Hello Please see pics. Basement wall type is 8" concrete + 4" interior...while first floor exterior wall is 8" siding. The thicker basement wall causes a gap to be left on the first floor when aligning the stairs on both levels. Any suggestion what is actually done in this case to fill that gap.
  7. Thanks for the time you spent trying to solve it. This house style is quite common here....hence i wanted to try model it.
  8. It works! Can you please summarize what you've done to fix this.
  9. Hello Please see pics and plan. Main floor is 9ft, 2nd floor is 8ft. Garage is at -24" below main floor. I split the garage into 2 rooms of different heights, so that the above floor overlapping room remains at same height and front part of it is at a lower ceiling height. But this is causing siding issue. Anyone can advise how to fix this. house.plan
  10. I have tried, it doesn't work
  11. Please see pic. I am trying to do the circled part....wall thickness is around 30" with a closet inside the wall. Only way I can think of is a wall niche...but then I cannot place the door. Any idea how to do this? Thanks
  12. Only solution I could think of was to manually place a newel at the corner....
  13. Please see pic....both railing are straight half wall....there seem to be no way to connect both properly

  15. Hello, I have raised the ceiling height of the porch to above the 2nd floor level (see pic). Since then, its causing issues on parts of the exterior wall siding (red arrows in the pic). When I lower the porch ceiling back to normal 8 ft, those cuts disappear. Can anyone advise why this is happening. House.plan
  16. Hello, See pic. How to make the grey exterior trim around the window in Chief. It is a different shape on each of the window.
  17. Hi all I am trying to replicate this roof eave decoration from Paradise Rises #23 house. I created a symbol, then tried to place a Polyline Distribution Path along the roof edges in an elevation view but after drawing a line along the roof edge in the elevation view, I cannot convert it to a Polyline Distribution Path. Hence I am stuck. Thanks for your help

  19. Hello I am designing the Breckenridge house and following along the video tutorials. On part 4 video, when the roof is auto-built the first time with 6" pitch, the kitchen area wall becomes lower height than the rest of the house (see pics). I did exactly as in the first 3 videos...yet my kitchen area height stays same height when my roof is built. Can anyone help
