  1. It was going along pretty well until I changed the Carport wall and then tried to clean up the foundation. Now I get this. For the life of me I cannot figure out what to change. There are multiple issues here. The design is to have a 7 5/8" x 7 5/8" curb on a 24"x24" conc. foundation on soil (24"Dx60"W in the carport archway wall). I do note that there is an Automatic Depth box checked but I cannot find out where in the defaults it is so that I can uncheck it.
  2. Thank you to all for the detail of the tree, and thank you to Joe_Carrick for a view of the forest. Unfortunately I have not been able to replicate the detail path originally suggested by MarkMc, so for now I have moved on to other parts of the project. However, I am determined to master this create 3D symbol thing. But I might just use robdyck's rebar symbol when I return to this part of the drawings. In the meantime, there is a blue cheerio constantly rolling in the back of my mind...
  3. Got it. Interesting you cannot get to Trim>Molding Polyline from CAD Detail. So do you guys do various *.plan files for one project and then copy paste them into your master *.plan file? Think of my brain with an infinitely rolling blue circle right now . . . Will be back, hopefully soon.
  4. Whoa! Great to know it can be done. But let's back up the truck for the simple minded like me. How do I start? Ok opened a CAD Detail under my *.plan file and selected the object and clicked Make CAD Block. Now when I go to convert to symbol it is greyed out.
  5. I have drawn the following (rebar stirrups and longitudinal bars which go inside a concrete grade beam): It is ok, but I would like to create a 3D Elevation as well. Something like this: I looked in Help and couldn't find anything. It seems to me that I could: 1. Tediously draw in 2D CAD the stirrups at an angle and then add the longitudinal bars? 2. Maybe I could import the picture somehow and "ray trace" it? And then mod it to represent my particular stirrup/bar configuration? (I fooled around and couldn't get ray to trace an imported picture...) 3. Use some part of CA Premiere (currently unknown to me) to convert my 2D CAD drawings of the stirrups above into a 3D CAD and then mod the resulting 3D CAD to represent my particular stirrup/bar configuration? I have researched, and I can't figure out how is the best way to accomplish this task. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
  6. You are the best. Will do. And if and when I can pay it back to the forum, I will. Have a great weekend. And thank you once more.
  7. Brilliant as usual! Helpful as usual! The Stretch CAD worked perfectly after I selected the part to stretch. I never would have found that function under the Edit menu. Thank you! I want to learn to make CAD Blocks, but the following apparently applies to my CAD drawing: "If the Make CAD Block edit button is not available, then the selection set may contain an object that is not an eligible CAD block component." So, I apparently do not know how to make a proper CAD drawing. If you have time would you show or tell me where to look to learn to make the 3/8" radiused cornered rectangle which you displayed in your second video? I don't want to wear out my welcome, so if and when you have time and interest. You have been a Godsend to my learning of this program. Thank you.
  8. Sorry for the delay. To upload the plan I needed to save and close it. The drawing is of a bisected footing. The object which I would like to make wider is a rebar stirrup. The stirrup as shown is wide enough for the footing with an 18" wide stemwall (not attached) but must be made wider for the footing with the 24" stemwall (as depicted). Also any and all additional comments, critiques (and even criticisms), suggestions or questions are accepted and appreciated. TEST.plan Edit: I must run to pick up my wife, so I will be out of pocket for a little over an hour. Thank you.
  9. That is good to know about lines. Thank you. However, my object is constructed from boxes, not lines. And then I Unioned the boxes (the idea was to be able to make a thick line by joining boxes and then filling them with Solid Black or other color fill as needed. So what I have to do is to delete part of an object while leaving the remainder of the object.
  10. Thank you for replying Eric. The object is an overlap of two separate narrow polyline objects which I created. I overlapped them thinking that I could make a wider single polyline object and then just delete the two resulting interior vertical bars. I did this after I tried to delete one side of each and then overlap them at the appropriate width and then Union the two polyline objects. But I cannot figure out how to select only a part of a polyline object. How do I do it? Or better yet, what is the appropriate way to accomplish this task? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  11. Hello Chief Architect Professionals! I would like to delete the two inside vertical bars in this polyline object and I can't figure out how to: CAD line and then Scissors deletes the entire object. I thought by putting a fence at the top and bottom of the two vertical bars I could delete the material in between, but either it does not work or I don't yet know how to properly use fences. Is there a way to delete the two inside vertical bars which you can share with me? Thank you in advance.
  12. Thank you Eric! Not only did your post solve my problem but it made me look at the Default Specifications for "Custom Specifications" where I noticed that I had actually inserted my Door, Window & Flood Vent schedule into the template Custom Schedule. So, I cleaned that up too.
  13. I have made one Custom Schedule. It is for Doors, Windows, Archways, & Flood Vents. But I cannot seem to name it that. Rather, I cannot assign any name to it so it is just "Custom Schedule." I would also like to create other customs schedules and name them myself. For instance is there a way to name a custom schedule named "Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing." Is there a way to do such a thing? Or do I just go into the object for each item and assign it to Electrical Schedule under each item's object properties?
  14. Dermot: Perfect. Yes, of course you are correct. I had saved a schedule to Plan, CAD details to insert later thinking that it would not be active. Deleting that solved the problem.
  15. I have Call Outs on both the object and on the dimension line. When I change the Dimension Layerset to uncheck Door Labels and to uncheck Window Labels, I lose both the Call Outs on the Dimension Line and on the Object. How do I keep one call out but not the other? Thank you in advance.
  16. Regardless of where I do it (either on the plan itself or in a CAD Detail) when I convert schedule to text my callout symbols disappear on plan view and are replaced with automatic labels. I assume that convert schedule to text is causing this. I need to insert text under the comment column. Is there a way to insert text in a schedule under the comment column without converting the schedule to text? What is the best way to insert text for instance under my comment column in a schedule?
  17. Well you have earned your username with me. It worked. Thank you. But it is odd. When I click on the archway, it does not highlight but the movement cross does appear. And I can, in fact, move the archway left or right along the wall with the lug walls resizing as I go. But what is best, but weird, is that when I have the movement cross up on the archway, I can click on the lug wall Dimension and it changes to a blue resize box which I can then resize as requested in the thread title. Perfect! It is weird because when the movement cross is up on the archway, I cannot click on the archway Dimension to resize the archway width. (BTW, I spent ~6 hours researching this issue by binge watching the Dimensions tutorials, and reading the software's Help Topic, and searching this ChiefTalk forum.) You took less than a minute. I owe you an alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage of your choice it we ever meet. Thank you.
  18. I can lengthen the short wall segments at the left corner of the Entry and the right corner of the Carport by highlighting the wall and clicking on the Dimension which displays for those segments of the wall. But I cannot lengthen or shorten the lug walls (the narrow walls between the archway openings) by clicking on the Dimension. I am stuck in my tracks until I get this problem solved. Attached are some snips of relevant settings. If that proves insufficient, I would also upload the plan file, but I request that it not be republished to youtube. Your help would be greatly appreciated. The program is excellent. And I am learning. But I have little experience with the program and there are significant holes in my knowledge.
  19. I just sent this as an apology to a member here because, while binge watching CA tutorials and devouring threads to jump start my learning, I asked a direct question about a member's statement which was contained in, but was tangential to, the thread's topic. I now understand and appreciate how single topic you desire your threads to be. And I will respect and honor that. So, I might as well post my apology here as a blanket apology to the group. (Especially, when in other threads I realized that @Dermot is the Principal Software Engineer for CA.) Here goes: "Thank you for your patience. My highest use on any forum is to be the person who asks the stupid questions. Which I am not afraid to do here but I won't do until I have done my research to see if I can find the solution first. I have many questions but need to parcel them out so as not to wear out my welcome. Your statement that Elevations should not be created from Saved Plan Views was enlightening. So I jumped on it. I am watching tutorials and exhausted from trying to get these construction drawings done, properly. This is a magnificent program by the way. Simply an outstanding work of creation. Thank you for your help." Carry on. And again thank you all again for your help. (And watch for more stupid questions. . .)
  20. To All: I will respectfully post each problem in its own thread in the future. However, I am very reluctant to post up my entire plan for privacy concerns. @Dermot Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner! And it is Dermot! Before: After clicking Build Framing with Build Subfloor for Second Floor box checked: You can see that letting the program build the floor did, in fact, cause the sill plates to show on at least the West Wall and in the Divider Wall (not shown). But it unfortunately put the 2"x12" floor platform only under the house proper which is structurally unsound. An existing 2-story house is being raised and will be lowered onto the to-be-constructed 2"x12" platform depicted first above. I am solving the need to have the existing house higher than the side Balconies by adding a 2"x4" platform on top of the 2"x12" platform and under the existing house footprint. Any suggestions for getting sill plates to show without letting the program build the 2-floor ceiling? Or should I let the program build the 2-floor ceiling and then turn off auto rebuilds and then manually rebuild the framing? And, thank you to all for your generous help.
  21. I have the sill plate checked on the wall dialog for two 7 1/2" sill plates. I have all the wall items checked on in the active layer set. I have all the framing items checked on the active layer set including "Framing, Sill Plates." I cannot get the sill plate to show. FYI, there is a stem wall below this wall to which the footing is attached. However, even if I click the "Foundation" box on the wall setting, the sill plate will not show. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  22. @RenerabbittOK so the Layout files continue to update as the Plan is updated (I will also manually update the Layout file). But in the Project Browser under there is a file called DELTAHOME.Layout > CAD Details > in which there is a file called "Doors, Windows & Flood Vents" which is static correct? Because when I deleted my schedule from the Plan it also deleted from the Doors, Windows & Flood Vents Layout page but did not delete the schedule from the CAD Details page. If I understand it correctly, I can work with it. Thank you.
  23. @Renerabbitt Excellent! I did it! So, am I correct that the new page in my Layout file which BTW has a title called "Doors, Windows & Flood Vents" will NOT update automatically, because it is a CAD drawing now, not a "Layout" which is "dynamically" linked to the Plan? If so, that is absolutely fine with me, because at my level of understanding I truly do need to keep things simple. Thank you Renerabbitt, and thank you to all here! I will carry on until I hit the next obstacle...
