I've watched the stretch zone video, but I am still fuzzy on how to do this.... I want to stretch the attached drapery rod and keep the fabric the same. I've put markers where it seems like I should put the stretch zones. Can someone help me understand how to do it? Amie

Can Auto Cad files used in conjunction with Chief?
freshrooms replied to freshrooms's topic in General Q & A
Thank you everyone for your input! There is a free "student" version of Autocad available through Autodesk called AutoCAD360. I am considering downloading it to begin to understand how to use the program. Does anyone have experience with that and will that give me a good foundation to the program being used in the industry? I am an interior designer and currently using Chief X7 for Interiors. -
How successfully can AutoCad files be imported into Chief, worked on then exported back into AutoCad? If an architect sends me a plan generated in AutoCad, can I then convert it (import it) into a chief file, work on it and then send it back to be viewed in AutoCad? I am faced with possibly having to learn AutoCad, and hope I can skirt that issue this way. Does anyone have any insights for me? Amie

I tried that, then turned on each layer... couldn't locate it! Turns out they ended up as the room moldings so I had to delete it from the room specification dialog box. Tricky!

I've put some spiral ducts in a plan from the bonus library... having some trouble. Can't select them. Even with the All Off set, in camera view, they are still visible and unselectable. "All off" in the plan view, and they are off. Any ideas? I am using X7.

How Can I Make Half Of An Upside Down Pyramid Shape?
freshrooms replied to freshrooms's topic in General Q & A
Thanks Humble/Larry. At this point I am going to stick with the pyramids on the outside of my room because I have spent too much time messing around and this is good enough. I sort of, kind of, understand what you did and will go back to your video a little later to try to absorb and recreate it on my plan. My first few attempts are less than stellar... -Amie -

How Can I Make Half Of An Upside Down Pyramid Shape?
freshrooms replied to freshrooms's topic in General Q & A
Yes, I am trying to just work with the interior. And yes, they are related to the roof. I have the interior measurements... I attached an aerial view of the roofline, but roofs do not come easily to me! This room is the one on the top of the photo. -
Trying to build the inside of this room. Used a polyline solid for most of this ceiling (roofline) shape, but stumped on creating the wedge shape at the end. How can I do it with solid shapes?

Thanks! It wouldn't have occured to me that anything named arch would end up with a point.

YOU are a genius! I messed around with the numbers and made a point at the top when the offset of the inside corners equalled the width of the window. Thanks! Now if only I could get the roof lines right on this thing...
-
I can't figure out how to make the top point. I can adjust the sides, or make a polygon that follows the roof line, but the center window is a problem.

Where do I find a window that shape?

I don't know how to add the windows in the peak of this house. (see attached) Can anyone help me out? Amie Whipple Front & Rear 7-1-14.pdf

Interior barn doors are becoming fashionable. How are people rendering them in Chief? I need to do something like the attached... suggestions?
-
Is it true that the program is set up to use the absolute elevations on these problematic items? Furniture seems fine, but polyline solids and pillows are my current issue. I agree that if created in a plan view on an upper floor, that is where they should be. What is the procedure for suggestions to the Chief Architect technical team?

I am interior designer preparing renderings for a meeting. I want to add accessories to bookshelves and coffee tables, etc. How is the best way to do that? It is a challenge to get the books to "sit" on the shelves, etc... what view do you all use for that? Any tips would be great. Thanks!

I am having an issue with these light spots on the floor when doing my ray traces. How can I minimize them? I am adding point lights just to brighten up the images, I've tried lowering the wattage/lumens in the light data box, but that doesn't seem to help. What suggestions can you give me to improve?
